Lack of Sources, Imperial Library[edit]

I was just wondering, this page is in need of a little love but there seems to be little information on the subject. What exactly is the policy on the Imperial Library? I have found this article, http://www.imperial-library.info/book/export/html/904 , which is very comprehensive, but is it verifiable enough to be used here? --OblivionDuruza 11:17, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

I believe the standing policy is that the Imperial Library should only be used when nothing else is available. This isn't the case here as that is just a copy of The Pocket Guide to the Empire, 1st Edition Section on the Aldmeri Dominion. Feel free to add the information therein to this page if you can't find any other citation. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 17:33, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying and thanks for the link. I'll try and do some work on this page if I get the time, it could be a bit more insightful and the link you provided has a lot of information on the subject. --OblivionDuruza 07:04, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
A very rough guideline is that all books appearing in games can be used as sources, as can all material that comes with them (Pocket Guides, etc). Material that doesn't appear in-game but that comes from developers can be used, but has got to be flagged with the {{OOG}} template - see Lore:Sheogorath for instance. Any fan-generated content may NOT be used as a source. rpeh •TCE 09:14, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, I'm aware about fan stuff, but I was just unsure about the IL as it is regarded as the leader in Lore where as the UESP is regarded as the leader in Game Info. If their articles are referenced with acceptable sources (meeting our guidelines) is it okay to write similar stuff? --OblivionDuruza 07:22, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
I don't know what you mean by "similar stuff". rpeh •TCE 08:11, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Kalis Agea did all of the work for us while we were discussing this, thanks Kalis for your continued efforts in making lore space a better place! --AKB Talk Cont Mail 06:10, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Well this is just a bit akward ;) The Pocket Guides are very useful pieces of information; there may even be more on the Thalmor in one of the sections! And thanks for the thanks. :D Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 06:19, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Thalmor goal[edit]

According to MK: http://www.imperial-library.info/content/forum-archives-michael-kirkbride

What appears to be an Altmeri commentary on Talos:

To kill Man is to reach Heaven, from where we came before the Doom Drum's iniquity. When we accomplish this, we can escape the mockery and long shame of the Material Prison.

To achieve this goal, we must:

1) Erase the Upstart Talos from the mythic. His presence fortifies the Wheel of the Convention, and binds our souls to this plane.

2) Remove Man not just from the world, but from the Pattern of Possibility, so that the very idea of them can be forgotten and thereby never again repeated.

3) With Talos and the Sons of Talos removed, the Dragon will become ours to unbind. The world of mortals will be over. The Dragon will uncoil his hold on the stagnancy of linear time and move as Free Serpent again, moving through the Aether without measure or burden, spilling time along the innumerable roads we once travelled. And with that we will regain the mantle of the imperishable spirit.

To bad he wrote that years before Skyrim was even in development and the article doesn't mention the Thalmor. — Unsigned comment by 65.128.162.174 (talk) at 08:04 on 20 January 2013 (GMT)
Sorry, but it's not canon. None of this is backed up by anything in any elder scrolls game or publication, was not in any ingame book, was not in any spoken dialogue, no member of the Thalmor (who are usually pretty open about their goals) ever states this, no enemy of the Thalmor even ever states this, etc. The best you could offer in defense is a vague throwaway line from Esbern. Michael Kirkbride's stuff is interesting, but since Beth has no connection with it, and Kirk had nothing to do with Skyrim or any of the books, it is essentially little more than employee fanfiction. Well written and interesting fanfiction, but still fanfiction.
Besides, if we took that as canon, we'd also have to take the stuff about the 9th era time travelers as canon too. Not to mention Hogithium Hall. And I'm sure we're all in agreement that it's not canon either.--Rylasasin (talk) 02:08, 5 March 2014 (GMT)

Lineage Discrepancy[edit]

I find it hard to believe that, as the article states, Titus Mede II is the son of Titus I. This would mean that either Titus I was some sort of immortal and had a second son later in life, or that Prince Attrebus changed his name to Titus and is somehow immortal. Though I am posting this here, I'm not waiting to change it; I'm simply explaining my reasoning. Thanks.--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 04:54, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Ditto, perhaps one of Treb's descendants named themselves Titus after the founder of the Mede Empire? Strundu'ul 13:00, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Embassies[edit]

The Thalmor don't have multiple embassies throughout the Empire, I can't recall a source making such a claim. The reason they have the embassy in skyrim is because of the Markarth incident in order to hunt down Talos worshipers because the Empire wasn't enforcing the Talos ban. — Unsigned comment by 76.116.81.224 (talk) at 19:00 on 9 February 2014

Technically, the page wasn't making that claim, either, but I've made a small adjustment which should address your concern. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 19:19, 9 February 2014 (GMT)

Andel Crodo[edit]

The first pocket guide refers to him as a Thalmor leader. (His policy of non-intervention) 124.149.230.206 06:24, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

sentence wording[edit]

in the section on the second dominion this sentence is worded a bit weirdly "which some few on the Thalmor sought to oppose." i'm mostly writing this because i don't personaly know anything better. 78.29.246.242 09:04, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
