Betnikh[edit]

Is Betony the same as Betnikh? Vicano (talk) 19:39, 18 February 2014 (GMT)

There isn't any evidence it is. It's possible? But nothing that I've seen so far connects the two, besides general location. Betnikh is much larger, and further south than Betony. Jeancey (talk) 19:42, 18 February 2014 (GMT)
They seem to be in the same area, from what I can tell. I don't know about size, but the shape of Betony and Betnikh also seems to be the same, and we have a ready in-game explanation for a name change occurring. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 19:48, 18 February 2014 (GMT)
Betnikh is due west of Hammerfall, whereas Betony is immediately south of the high rock peninsula. Also, if you look at Betony compared to the size of Balfiera, you'll see that betony is considerably smaller than the main island is the Balfiera group. However, if you look at the ESO map, you'll see that Betnikh is actually slightly LARGER than the isle of Balfiera. Betony is round, while Betnikh is kidney-shaped. All this tells me that they are not the same location. Jeancey (talk) 19:53, 18 February 2014 (GMT)
If Betnikh is supposed to be the large island off the southern tip of High Rock seen here, then it's clearly in the same position as Betony was in Daggerfall; see here (and keep in mind that the DF map is not aligned to the north, but to the northwest). They're both due west of Hammerfell and off the southern tip of High Rock. I think they both look kidney-shaped. Differences in sizes can be attributed to individualized map-making, lore-wise, or simply because it suited Zenimax in real life. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 20:00, 18 February 2014 (GMT)

() [1] Yes, they're the same island. "An Almanac of Betony", found on Betnikh, describes its lofty cliffs. Betnikh is known for it cliffs... far too many coincidences here, in my opinion. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 20:18, 18 February 2014 (GMT)

Just to chime in, it is indeed the same place. I can't remember where, but in one of the side quests, or random dialogue with NPCs, or perhaps during a loading screen, there's specific mention of a tribe of Orcs arriving at Betony, driving out the Bretons, and renaming the island Betnikh. --Enodoc (talk) 22:50, 18 February 2014 (GMT)
