Severia Gratius is an Imperial guard for the Imperial Legion in Fort Frostmoth. She will not appear until Rebellion at Frostmoth is complete.

The Moon Sugar Mystery[edit]

As soon as you approach Severia for the first time, it becomes clear that she is in the midst of trying to deal with a serious matter. A matter that she could use some help with:

  • "Ask your questions but be quick, %PCClass. I'm quite busy with the moon sugar investigation."
  • moon sugar investigation
    • "You're new at Frostmoth so I guess you haven't heard. Over the past couple of months several people across Solstheim have been poisoned...with moon sugar. Someone has been slipping it into their food and wine. They experience temporary euphoria, and then complete exhaustion. I've been charged with finding the culprit and bringing him to justice. Recently our Cult priest Jeleen was poisoned, so it is now officially an Imperial matter."

From this point onwards, her responses depend slightly on whether or not you are a member of the Imperial Legion. If you are not, she will say:

  • Imperial matter
    • "If it were just the locals the Empire couldn't be bothered. But now one of our own has been affected! Last week our Cult priest was stricken with moon sugar euphoria after drinking some wine. I don't have the manpower to deal with this problem, but my superiors are getting impatient. He wants the culprit dead. I know you're not a member of the Imperial Legion, but I'd like to hire you to help in the investigation. I'll make it worth your while. Are you interested?"
    • I'll help you Severia. Just tell me what you need done.
      • [Disposition +10.] "It's simple, really. I want you to kill the man responsible for the moon sugar poisonings. Jeleen, our Cult priest, was the most recent victim, and he actually caught a glimpse of the culprit. It was a man wearing, oddly enough, a unique white Colovian fur helm. Bring me this white helm, and I'll know the deed is done. Now, go speak with Jeleen at the Cult shrine here in Frostmoth before you depart. He may have some more information."
      • "The matter is still under investigation, and I suggest you get a move on."
    • No thanks, Severia. This is an Imperial matter, and I've got other business to attend to.
      • [Disposition -10.] "I see. Well, if you change your mind, come talk to me. This issue isn't going to resolve itself, and I hardly have the resources to deal with it effectively. Good day, %PCClass."
      • Goodbye.

Whereas, if you are in fact a member of the Imperial Legion, she says:

  • Imperial matter
    • "If it were just the locals the Empire couldn't be bothered. But now one of our own has been affected! Last week our Cult priest was stricken with moon sugar euphoria after drinking some wine. I don't have the manpower to deal with this problem, but my superiors are getting impatient. They want the culprit dead. I need to call upon you, as a loyal member of the Imperial Legion, to bring this poisoner to justice. What say you? Will you serve me, and the Empire?"
    • I would be honored to serve the Empire. What must I do, Severia?
      • [Disposition +10.] "Excellent. You are a credit to the Imperial Legion, %PCName. I hereby order you to kill the man responsible for the moon sugar poisonings. Jeleen, our Cult priest, was the most recent victim, and he actually caught a glimpse of the culprit. It was a man wearing, oddly enough, a unique white Colovian fur helm. Bring me this white helm, and I'll know justice has been served. Be sure to question Jeleen at the Cult shrine before you depart. He may have some more information."
      • "The matter is still under investigation, and I suggest you get a move on."
    • I can't help you right now, Severia. I have other pressing matters to attend to.
      • [Disposition -15.] "Very well, then. I hope you will put any personal matters to rest as quickly as you're able, and then return to accept this mission. You are a member of the Imperial Legion, %PCName, and our first duty is to the Empire. I know thinngs [sic] seem a bit lax around here, and some of the other guards aren't as motivated as they should be. I expected better from you. Good day."
      • Goodbye.

If you ask her again about the topic "moon sugar investigation" before you exit this dialogue but after you have agreed to look into the matter, she will say:

  • "You're in charge of the investigation now, %PCName. I suggest you stop wasting time and get on with it."

Regardless of whether you are a member of the Imperial Legion, speaking to her while you are busy investigating the strange occurrences prompts her to say:

  • "%PCName, you've returned. The fact that you're not carrying a white Colovian fur helm leads me to believe that the moon sugar poisoner is still at large. Please hurry. If one more person is victimized by this scoundrel, it could mean my job. And that would make me most unhappy."
  • Goodbye.

Once you have obtained the culprit's white Colovian fur helm, you can speak with her to finish the quest and receive your reward. Once again, her dialogue depends a bit on whether you are a member of the Imperial Legion (as does the reward that she will give you). If you are not, she says:

  • [Disposition+10. White Colovian Fur Helm has been removed from your inventory. 1500 Gold has been added to your inventory.] "%PCName! Do my eyes deceive me, or is that a white Colovian fur helm? Then the deed is done. The moon sugar poisoner has been brought to justice. Excellent work. The Imperial Legion will not forget you, or your assistance. Here, please take this gold as a symbol of our thanks."

And if you are, she says:

  • [Disposition +10. White Colovian Fur Helm has been removed from your inventory. 1500 Gold has been added to your inventory. Severia's Imperial Shortsword has been added to your inventory.] "%PCName! Do my eyes deceive me, or is that a white Colovian fur helm? Then the deed is done. The moon sugar poisoner has been brought to justice. Excellent work. You have done a great service to me, the Legion, and the Empire itself. Take this gold as payment for a job well done. And I would also give you another reward, as a symbol of my personal thanks. This shortsword has served me well, and you'll find its enchantments will help rally others to your cause."

You can speak with her again after you have completed the quest, in which case she will say:

  • "Hail, %PCName! How can I help you, my friend?"
  • Imperial matter
    • "That matter has been put to rest, thanks to you."
  • moon sugar investigation
    • "The matter has been resolved. The poisoner has been brought to justice, and the Imperial Legion has you to thank."'
