Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

This quest can only be done if an Oblivion gate appears north of the city (random chance); after closing it and completing the Main Quest, you'll receive a letter from Count Marius Caro. The gate and bridge are obstructing the shipping lanes, and he wants you to see if you can do anything about it.

Firstly, you'll need to go take a look. You have to get pretty close to the former gate itself (basically, go out to the island) to trigger the next journal entry; after that, go to the Mages Guild and talk to Alves Uvenim. She'll tell you it's possible, but she needs a boatload of items: a varla stone, three fire salts, three scamp skin, three daedra venin, and a piece of daedra silk (all of which are, naturally, a lot more difficult to find since all the Oblivion gates are closed). When you find enough of each ingredient, they'll be replaced with a new quest item, so there's no worry about losing them.

Once you've gotten everything, return to Alves and she'll give them to Dagail to make a scroll. Come back in two days when it's done (you'll get a journal entry to remind you), then take it to the island with the gate and read it. The gate and bridge will disappear, and then you can report the news to Count Caro to complete the quest.

Journal Entries[edit]

5 I received a letter from Count Marius Caro, in which he asks for help. After the Oblivion gate was closed, a bridge remained near Leyawiin, obstructing the supply of goods between Leyawiin and the Imperial City. The bridge must be removed, the city is counting on me. I should first speak with the Count.
10 I need to visit the port to assess the situation.
15 I'm at the port. The bridge which formed with the Oblivion gate seriously interferes with navigation. It needs to be removed. But how? I'll go to the Mages Guild and listen to what they have to say.
20 I chose not to collect the ingredients needed by the Leyawiin Mages Guild at this time. Maybe I'll find the time later.
25 I need to bring Alves Uvenim from the Leyawiin branch of the Mages Guild a Varla Stone, three pieces of Scamp Skin, three doses of Fire Salt, three doses of Daedra Venin, and a piece of Daedra Silk.
30 I have everything needed to create a scroll with the spell. It's time to go to the Leyawiin branch of the Mages Guild, to Alves Uvenim.
35 I need to wait two days while the Litany of Purification scroll is created.
40 It's time to go to Dagail at the Leyawiin branch of the Mages Guild for the Litany of Purification scroll.
45 The Litany of Purification is with me. It's time to free Leyawiin port from the remnants of the Oblivion gate. I must stand at the beginning of the bridge, facing the remains of the gate and then read the Litany. I will know when I find the indicated place.
46 I'm here. This is where I need to read the Litany of Purification.
50 The Litany of Purification worked. All remnants of the Oblivion gate, including the bridge, have disappeared. I should report this to Count Marius Caro.
100 Finishes quest☑ It is done. The port of Leyawiin is reopened to ships from the Imperial City, the remains of the gate are destroyed. The city can live in peace.

Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On PC It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage BANLeyawiinShippingObstruction stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
