Skyrim Countdown[edit]

See it here!.

Fan-Fiction[edit]

The following are the descriptions and backstories of my planned characters for Skyrim. I am creating one character from each race, each following a distinct archetype. They are going to be played in accordance with realistic guidelines. Their stories were carefully created to agree with existing timelines and lore.

Orval Malmus[edit]

Name: Orval "Dagoth " Malmus

Race: Dunmer

Born: 6 Second Seed, 2E 870

Affiliation: House Dagoth, Dark Brotherhood

The son of a poor Red Mountain-region egg miner, Orval Malmus was never content scraping out a miserable existence toiling in the ash-ridden darkness of the caves. His mother had died in childbirth, and he and his younger sister, Ulmiso, were left in the care of their drunkard father. On his twelfth birthday, he was viciously beaten for forgetting to secure that day’s egg harvest in the shed. Orval fled their shack into a ash storm, cursing his father, and his life.

Quickly becoming disoriented and frightened, Orval attempted to return to his family’s shack, to no avail. After 3 days of wandering, and near death, Orval collapsed upon the steps of Kogoruhn. His father had often told him stories of the place and to keep his distance, as a sinister evil emanated from it. He awoke another 3 days later, and found he was being nursed back to health by a terrible creature named Dagoth Uthol. To his surprise, Orval found the creature to be kind, much kinder than his own father. As Orval was poor, he concluded the only way to repay the creature for it’s kindness was to swear an eternal allegiance to House Dagoth. He was soon given his first task to complete in the name of his Lord and Master, Dagoth Ur

Dagoth Uthol gave Orval a rusty iron dagger and 1000 gold pieces and ordered him to murder Feril Salmyn, an Ordinator who was spotted approaching the stronghold earlier that day. Orval knew he was just a boy, and wouldn’t be able to defeat Salmyn in battle. He decided he would have to deceive Salmyn to kill him. Orval ventured to the outskirts of Kogoruhn and feigned injury, going so far as to cut out one of his own eyes with the rusty dagger. Soon Salmyn came upon the bleeding boy, and turned in aid to draw a potion from his pack. Within seconds he was lying face down in a pool of his own blood, his throat carved from ear to ear. Orval had completed his initiation into the Sixth House.

Later that day he returned to his family’s shack, much to the relief of his sister. Telling his father that he had mistakenly killed a traveling merchant, he surrendered his gold to him and begged him to guide him north, where he could arrange passage from Morrowind to Skyrim. His father bitterly agreed, glad to exchange his troublesome son for a wealth of gold. He took him north of Dagon Fel, to a small, craggy island. Taking shelter from a gale they entered a small, flooded cave (now known as the infamous Malmus Grotto ) to say their goodbyes. Orval hugged his sister, and whispered to her to leave the cave, so he could speak privately with his father. As soon as she left, he approached his father and cast the feeble elf to the ground, stomping him mercilessly. He then took his father’s claymore and drove it through his heart, thrusting it so hard it pinned him to the ground. He turned to see his sister staring at him, having come back in at the sound of the commotion. Horrified, she fled all the way to Ghostgate and became a temple healer, changing her name from “Malmus” to “Maloren” to hide her shame. Rumor has it that Orval then retrieved two pearls from a nearby bloodstained kollop. He pushed one into his empty eye socket, then cut out one of his father’s eyes and pushed the other into there. It is believed that Orval Malmus remains at large in the province of Skyrim, and has recently fallen into the ranks of the Dark Brotherhood, following the murders of Feril Salmyn and Varon Malmus.

Publius Falvius[edit]

Name: Publius Falvius

Race: Imperial

Born: 20 Frostfall, 4E 165

Affiliation: Imperial Legion, East Empire Company

Publius Falvius is a staunch loyalist to the empire, having served for over 12 years in the Imperial Legion. Publius spent his time in service of the Imperial Legion escorting various East Empire Company trade ships and caravans from province to province. This left him learned in both the ways of the sword and of business. Since his recent discharge from the ranks of the Imperial Legion, he has become a successful merchant, as well as a significant shareholder in the East Empire Company. He has recently been called upon by General Tullius himself to leave his home in the Imperial City and travel to Skyrim, to help quell the Stormcloak insurrection.

I have been playing TES games since 2005, after purchasing Morrowind the same day as my Xbox. I was immediately drawn to the open-world play and the breathtaking landscapes. I have since completed Oblivion, and look forward to the release of Skyrim this November!
