Welcome[edit]

Hello Tamriel&Sovngarde! Welcome to UESPWiki! It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 15:50, 26 May 2013 (GMT)

Signing Posts[edit]

As a courtesy to other editors, please sign your posts on talk pages and other discussion pages. To do so, simply add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and the date will then be automatically added along with a timestamp when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps readers understand who is involved in a discussion, and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). Thank you. Advice[edit]

In regards to these edits: [1] [2] [3], I would like to ask you to not revert another's revert without explaining why, preferably on a talk page. Also, please remember to use edit summaries to allow others to know what you are trying to do. I have undone all of those edits, again, because for minor NPCs, a dialogue section is unneeded and the speculation does not belong on the page. If you have a source for this speculation then you may re-add it and cite the source. ~ Ad intellige (talk) 20:33, 29 May 2013 (GMT)

The speculation is unnecessary as is the non-unique dialogue. Please remove both of those. --Ad intellige (talk) 20:44, 29 May 2013 (GMT)
Allright, allright, lets not get too hasty now. If you want them removed I will remove them. — Unsigned comment by Tamriel&Sovngarde (talkcontribs) at 16:46 on 29 May 2013
The Morrowind Overhaul Project specifically states that any non-unique dialogue is not to be added. Any dialogue that is unique to him is fine to be on there. I have gone ahead and removed the speculation, and his non-unique dialogue. Also, I would like to reiterate what Silencer said above: please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~). --Ad intellige (talk) 21:00, 29 May 2013 (GMT)
(edit conflict) Please familiarize yourself with how a wiki works before continuing. Each edit needs patrolled, so use the show preview to see how your edits look before saving. Please sign your talk page contributions. Please do not edit war. Do not, under any circumstances, add guesswork to pages. Do not break the Etiquette rules. Pages have specific layouts and long-established reasons for being set out in such ways, respect that (and read the Style Guide). At this stage I do not know if what you have contributed is fully true, and most of your edits will probably be wiped and asked for verification before being changed back. Hi![edit]

Hi Tamriel&Sovngarde! I just wanted to say thanks for trying to help out with the site. I know it can be frustrating to be new around here—we have a lot of standards and guidelines that take a while to get used to, and it can be even more difficult if you've never edited a wiki before. I see you're not shy about diving in, which is great, but I just wanted to let you know that if you have any questions or would like some tips, please don't hesitate to contact me or another one of our site's mentors. We're always available to help! In the meantime, talk pages and edit summaries are really helpful when it comes to communicating with other editors, so make good use of them ;). Have a good one! eshetalk 21:10, 29 May 2013 (GMT)

Morrowind pages[edit]

Hey! I'm really excited that you want to help out. I have a small request though. Could you look at some of the other completed NPC pages for guidelines on how to write an NPC page? For instance, we don't include the full name of all items if they are all of the same set. Also, punctuation goes outside the wikilink and every single NPC in morrowind has spells of some sort. Also, could you try and make sure that your sentences are grammatically correct when adding information? Thanks!! Jeancey (talk) 00:09, 30 May 2013 (GMT)

Does every single NPC in Morrowind have spells? Some NPCs don't have spells unless you count their Powers. Tamriel&Sovngarde (talk) 06:17, 30 May 2013 (GMT)
I am looking at Caius Cosades's NPC page to see how things should be put on everyone's NPC page. One question: On Caius Cosades's page the dialogue topics are in bold, but when I did that with Ganciele Douar's topics they were Un-bolded. Why is that? Tamriel&Sovngarde (talk) 06:21, 30 May 2013 (GMT)
Yes, every NPC has spells, since we include both powers and abilities. You can find sentences to describe each race's powers here. Also, I didn't actually write Caius Cosades' page and I didn't really look closely at the dialogue there, also, I didn't unbold the topics, but usually I put them in sentence form, along the lines of "When asked about topic, npc will say "blah blah blah." That make sense? Usually the long lists with bolded topics are only when the NPC has a very large amount of unique dialogue, like caius. Ganciele doesn't have much unique dialogue at all. Jeancey (talk) 06:28, 30 May 2013 (GMT)
Also, do I put down Ganciele Douar's skills? e.g. his Strength, Heavy Armor skill level etc. Tamriel&Sovngarde (talk) 06:35, 30 May 2013 (GMT)
Nope. Jeancey (talk) 06:41, 30 May 2013 (GMT)
Can someone tell me how to create a new page on the wiki? I would like to create a Morrowind page about the Boat Guard from the Imperial Prison Ship. Tamriel&Sovngarde (talk) 07:08, 30 May 2013 (GMT)
There is actually no NPC named Boat Guard, so creating a page wouldn't be ok. Jeancey (talk) 07:10, 30 May 2013 (GMT)
They are identified as chargen boat guard in the Morrowind construction/creation kit. They are also just called guard in game but they both have unique dialogue. There could also be a seperate npc page for them. Tamriel&Sovngarde (talk) 07:29, 30 May 2013 (GMT)

() They have the same stats has the other guards. Just move onto another NPC for now. I'll look into it more, since you can't really TALK to them in the game. Unique Dialogue is non-quest related dialogue, and it is impossible to talk to them except for the tutorial quest thingy. Jeancey (talk) 07:32, 30 May 2013 (GMT)

Tips[edit]

Hiya Tamriel&Sovngarde! Thanks for your help lately in adding information to the wiki. We really appreciate your work on the Morrowind pages. If you're going to continue helping out, here's a section detailing the coding for basic links. Please check it out, so you can do this yourself while adding information, and save other editors the trouble. Also, if you're going to be adding quite a bit to a page, like you did on this page, you should use the show preview button to avoid clogging up the Recent Changes page rather than making multiple consecutive edits to a page. Instead of a dozen edits to that page, you could have left the window open and added a little bit at a time, then saved after you were all done. It really helps other users out (particularly patrollers). Thanks! Happy editing. :) — ABCface 20:35, 3 June 2013 (GMT)
