Welcome[edit]

Hello AzraelUK! Welcome to the wiki. I hope you enjoy using the site and find the information on it useful. If you decide you want to help improve any of our pages, we're always welcoming to new editors so feel free. You might want to look at our Getting Started page for some tips on how to begin, then play in our Sandbox for a while to practice.

Although you obviously have some wiki experience, there are some things are different here compared to most wikis. One of the biggest differences is our use of Namespaces, which in turn has some implications for how links are created on the site. So in terms of the comments on your user page:

 • Although you are free to type in a link using the form Prison District, that link will always be changed when you save the page into the link Prison District. The Oblivion namespace must be in the final link for the link to work properly.
 • On the same idea... yes, you can leave out the link label when you create a link. But on any UESP page, that link will be converted to one with a link label, as shown in the above example. You cannot have a link of the form Prison District on a page, and we don't want links of the form Oblivion:Prison District. So valid links on UESP pages will always end up with a link label.
 • Yes, you can have spaces in link entries. But underscores are equally valid in links. So Prison District is a completely valid link and for all intents and purposes is identical to the link using spaces. If you would like to replace underscores with spaces when you notice them, you are free to do that. But it's not something that's really a priority for the site.
 • Yes, you can type Armors (which will be changed into Armors) and that link is the same as Armors. But neither one is necessarily preferred over the other. Typing Armors is obviously far easier for an editor when initially creating the link (and for that reason singular page names are preferred over plural, e.g., Zombie not Zombies). But the final result is the same, so there's no reason to complain if someone chooses to create a link in a different format.

Also, in general, labeling all of the other editors on the site "idiots" for following the site's recommended practices really doesn't go over too well.

If you need any help or advice, please ask one of our mentors. Enjoy! --NepheleTalk 16:11, 15 March 2008 (EDT)

FYI, you can see our namespace/link replacement process in practice by looking at any of the edits you've made. For example, this edit. I'm guessing from your comments that you probably thought you changed several of those links to a simpler format, such as Repair Hammers or Endurance. But the final product will always include the namespace and label. So you have yourself broken your second and third "rules." --NepheleTalk 16:32, 15 March 2008 (EDT)
