Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Irva Sedrethi maintains an outfitter shop on Andothren's waterfront, near the piers where multiple ships are docked. She's in need of a courier capable of carrying a package for her. Speak to her about this routine delivery.
Irva will reveal that she needs an Ebony Longsword delivered to a client in Almas Thirr while she deals with family matters. The fastest way to this city is by taking either silt strider or Mages Guild guide straight from Andothren. You will need to go to the Thirsty Saint Cornerclub in Almas Thirr's Canalworks to meet the buyer - or as it turns out, his intermediary.
The Thirsty Saint Cornerclub is on the west side of the Canalworks, opposite the slave pen. Inside, speak to Sulada Syrivis, using the code phrase 'Amethyst Dreugh'. She will direct you to the site of the transaction - Almas Thirr's Underworks. You should access these by walking to the Canalworks Temple entrance on the east side of the Canalworks, before turning right down a package and descending down the first trapdoor.
Hles Vervul is waiting here. Speak to him about the routine delivery to hand over the Ebony Longsword. He will quickly notice that it is fake, and will demand a refund of 2,000 drakes.
There are a few ways this can go. Replying 'I don't have that much gold.' or 'I won't give up the money.' will induce Hles and his guards to attack you.
You can argue that 'Even if the sword isn't genuine ebony, it's worth what you paid for it'. This is a speech check however, and your chances of success are affected by your speechcraft, personality, luck, and level of fatigue. Characters low in these are unlikely to convince Hles, and he will attack.
You will receive a reward of 500 gold and a fake Ebony Longsword from Irva if you either kill Hles or convince him that the deal was worthwhile. In the event that you gave Hles 2,000 gold, she will return 1,000 gold to you, or 2,700 if you are a member of House Hlaalu (Kinsman rank or above) and threaten that your connections could ruin her business.
The only other option is to blame Irva Sedrethi. This will open up the new dialogue topic Irva Sedrethi's debt. You'll need to return to Irva to demand repayment - which she will give with 80 disposition or more. In that event, return to Hles with the note she gives you for a 700 gold reward from him.
Alternatively, if you speak to Olje, a smith who runs a stall near Irva's store, she will notice the blade and ask to examine it. If you allow her to look at it she'll determine it's a fake. You can then return to Irva's shop and either refuse to deliver it or attempt to extort her by threatening to reveal her scam.

10 | A merchant named Irva Sedrethi has asked me to help her by making a routine delivery of an ebony longsword to a client in Almas Thirr. The client is secretive, so I'll have to meet with an agent of his at an establishment called the Thirsty Saint Cornerclub, which is located in the Canalworks.
15 | The ebony longsword given to me by Irva Sedrethi was identified as a clever forgery. It seems that she intended to trick me into delivering a fake to her mystery client.
30 | I met my contact at the Thirsty Saint Cornerclub. She told me that her employer was waiting in the Almas Thirr Underworks to receive the delivery. To get there, I should leave the cornerclub and take a right, walk until I reach the entrance of the Canalworks temple. Then I should take another right, where there should be a trap door that I can access.
40 | After contacting his agent and entering the underworks of Almas Thirr, I found the one who appears to be the client that Irva Sedrethi spoke of. He was standing in the company of an imposing orcish bodyguard.
50 | When I gave him the ebony longsword, Hles Vervul accused me of trying to trick him with a forgery. He demanded that I give restitution for the money he gave Irva Sedrethi: 2,000 drakes, to be exact.
52 | I was forced to pay 2,000 to Hles Vervul and his gang as restitution. I better return to Irva Sedrethi and try to get my money back.
54 | I didn't have enough money to pay restitution to Hles Vervul, and he and his gang attacked me.

64 | I refused to help Hles Vervul get his money back from Irva Sedrethi in Andothren, and he and his gang attacked me.
65 | I agreed to help Hles Vervul get his money back from Irva Sedrethi in Andothren. He promised me a cut if I brought it back to him.
66 | I have killed Hles Vervul and his gang.
70 | I managed to intimidate Irva Sedreth into agreeing to pay back Hles Vervul. She gave me a letter to deliver back to him, and asked me in no uncertain terms to leave her shop.
75 | Irva Sedrethi was less than enthused to hear that the delivery had gone awry. She gave me 200 drakes and an enchanted ebony longsword.
76 | I informed Irva Sedrethi that I knew the ebony longsword was a fake, and refused to deliver it for her. She'll have to find somebody else to trick into her scheme.
77 | I informed Irva Sedrethi that I knew the ebony longsword was a fake, and threatened to blackmail her with it unless she paid me. She'll have to find somebody else to trick into her scheme, and I've made a handsome profit.
78 | Irva Sedrethi was less than enthused to hear that the delivery had gone awry, but became overjoyed when she learned that the gangsters had been killed. She gave me 500 drakes and an enchanted ebony longsword. It looks just as fake as the last one.
80 | Irva Sedrethi was overjoyed to hear that the delivery went well. She gave me 500 drakes and an enchanted ebony longsword. It looks just as fake as the last one.
85 | Irva Sedrethi still isn't happy that I extorted her on Hles Vervul's behalf, but now that he and his gang are dead she no longer has to pay them back. She begrudgingly rewarded me with 500 drakes and an enchanted ebony longsword. It looks just as fake as the last one.
90 | Irva Sedrethi was hesitant to refund the full 2,000 drakes I gave to Hles Vervul's gang as restitution for her trick. She gave me 1,000 drakes instead, along with her apologies and an enchanted ebony longsword. It looks just as fake as the last one.
95 | Irva Sedrethi was hesitant to refund the full 2,000 drakes I gave to Hles Vervul's gang as restitution for her trick, but I levied my status as a member of House Hlaalu to wring it out of her and then some.
100 | I returned to Hles Vervul with the letter that Irva Sedrethi gave me. He seemed pleased with the terms that it offered, and rewarded me with 700 drakes. My business with him and his gang is concluded. |
