Crime?[edit]

I was wondering whether crime should be covered on the stealth page or given its own article.

For comparison, in Oblivion, Oblivion:Crime is a separate article. But there also isn't any Stealth article. At one point, early on, there was a Stealth article but it only covered how to sneak, so it was merged into Oblivion:Sneak.

For symmetry, I thought Skyrim should have articles on each of Combat, Magic, and Stealth, especially since the skill groups seem to have a bit more relevance to the game. Over time, Combat and Magic are both sure to turn into long articles. On the other hand, the stealth skills are less interrelated than the other skill groups, meaning that stealth could turn into a permastub. Crime seems to be the most obvious shared element-- especially with pickpocketing being turned into its own skill. So does it make sense to include crime here? --NepheleTalk 23:38, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Crime isn't a subset of sneaking. Walking right up to an NPC in broad daylight and assaulting him with a war hammer is just as criminal. 81.233.217.129 10:55, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

Unsheathing[edit]

I'm certain I was detected once when I unsheathed my sword right behind an enemy. I don't think I was otherwise moving, and this was with a stationary NPC (bandit on top of a tower). 67.163.160.144 04:00, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Stealth Skills Are Crimes?[edit]

The main page says that most uses of stealth classed skills are crimes. This is simply not true. 99% of the crimes are associated with pickpockets. Alchemy, light armor use, talking, sneaking (in and of itself, what you do when sneaking is your business) are not criminal. Lockpicking can be a source of crime as well. I mean, to be fair, using your 2h weapon skills in town is just as much a crime as using your pickpocket skills in town.... seems like an odd comment that should be changed (to pickpocketing/lockpicking in town) or removed (seems the best option to me). — Unsigned comment by 66.18.49.84 (talk) at 17:29 on 25 January 2012

Page Redesign[edit]

I see you took the liberty of redesigning this page as well (which is good, I did notice it was rather lacking before). I'm not sure if the skills should be classified as "Criminal" and "Non-Criminal" though. Really, it's just too arbitrary: I play a lawful good character who still sneaks and picks locks in dungeons all the time but never does anything else with the skills. I'll try to make additions to this page when I have a chance. --BlackhawkXIII (talk) 03:13, 23 April 2013 (GMT)

I didn't know what to call them so I called them that. I hope someone can come up with better names soon though. --Ad intellige (talk) 19:52, 23 April 2013 (GMT)
Why do they have to be in categories at all? 107.0.51.65 16:09, 14 June 2013 (GMT)
I vote for removing the categories, since Pickpocket is the only one that is criminal by default. Maybe just make a comment to that fact under that skill.
Lockpicking is an essential skill, unless you are just choosing to miss out on a lot of good loot in dungeons.
Sneak is probably the first skill I max out on a character, since that is my playing style. I love clearing a dungeon or fort without ever being seen, and without taking a single point of damage. -- Jimbo talk 21:19, 8 July 2013 (GMT)
