Spider Caves[edit]

I was wondering if we should possibly include a list of "spider dens" on either this page, or the Spider Scrolls page. By spider dens, I mean locations that have a high concentration of these spider species. I think that the inclusion of a section might be helpful due to the fact that Albino Spider Pods are a necessity to create the spider scrolls, and due to the fact that since White Ridge Barrow, (where the Imbuing Chamber is), doesn't respawn, anyone attempting to find Spider Pods may want to know a few good locations to look at.... ---Gamer3427 (talk) 02:03, 30 January 2013 (GMT)

I've added a few known locations of albino spiders to the page, as well as the other variants (even though the other types don't drop pods, there are far fewer occurrences of the other types as enemies, so their locations are just as notable). As editors add locations to the existent list, we can see about giving it a separate section or table if there's enough known locations to do so. — ABCface 04:05, 30 January 2013 (GMT)
Sounds good to me. If I come across any good locations for them, I'll add them to the page as well...... ---Gamer3427 (talk) 04:12, 30 January 2013 (GMT)

Mind Control Spiders Section[edit]

I propose adding a section on this page for Mind-Control spiders. Though they are not technically creatures, they can still be found in non-scroll form when attached to and controlling bandits in White Ridge Barrow. It would also be easier to describe their appearance and effects on this page rather than the scroll page. Comments? --BlackhawkXIII (talk) 20:43, 31 January 2013 (GMT)

I agree with this. While they technically don't exist as a separate creature, they are still a visual effect, and create unique "controlled" enemies. Aside from making a separate page specifically for them, (which would be a little weird), this is probably the best location to include some information about them..... ---Gamer3427 (talk) 03:21, 1 February 2013 (GMT)
I think it's safe to go ahead and add a section for them on this page. I wasn't sure how to handle them when merging all the spider pages, since they're such a unique case, but I guess I made the wrong choice by leaving them out. It does make sense to have them listed here from a gameplay standpoint, so I'll go ahead and add a very short blurb on the page for now-- please help add to it as needed, since it will start as only a very basic description. Also, I'm going to hold off on creating a redirect/disambig for the creature version for now, until we have a little more information. Crosslinking between the pages will do until then.
Also, in game data it does look like there are three creatures used by the mind control spider scroll: DLC2ExpSpiderZombieLvlBanditMelee1H, DLC2ExpSpiderZombieLvlBanditMissile, and DLC2ExpSpiderZombieFriend. The third one actually uses the Jumping Poisonous Spider as its template. Just posting this info here so someone can use it as a reference when updating this part of the article later (should be easier to figure out for PC players when the PC version comes out, I think). — ABCface 04:22, 1 February 2013 (GMT)
Added the following line to the description for them, as well as a link to the recipe like the other spider sections have......
"When attached to an enemy they appear as small yellow spiders, and when held as a scroll, have the same appearance as a scroll Oil Spider."

Elemental damage from spiders[edit]

I came to this article to check if poison spiders actually do poison damage, but noticed that none of the spiders listed here have any information on damage, physical or elemental. Is it detailed somewhere else, or just missing? --Xyzzy Talk 13:11, 3 January 2014 (GMT)

Dragonborn:Spider Scrolls? -- SarthesArai Talk 13:22, 3 January 2014 (GMT)
I had checked there but only saw the effects listed (e.g. "Exploding Flame Spider, 5 ft."), still with no damage details. I just checked CSList and found the entry for Exploding Flame Spider, but I don't know how to interpret this data. If this actually shows damage, then it should probably get a page. --Xyzzy Talk 04:07, 4 January 2014 (GMT)
One thing would be their "spell" Poison Spider Abilities. But there are two scripts attached to those spiders too, mostly about handling the explosion. --Alfwyn (talk) 13:49, 4 January 2014 (GMT)
