Who delivered the note?[edit]

Who do we think actually gives the courier the note? The courier references a 'creepy looking fella, In a dark robe', and with his 'face covered' So, my thoughts are as follows, the only males that the courier could really be talking about are Festrus and Nazir, because surely if it was Veezara, the courier would mention the fact that the hooded man was an argonian. Nazir doesn't typically wear a dark robe, and I can't imagine Festrus travelling far, how does anyone else interpret this? Do you agree with my considerations or..? — Unsigned comment by 2.122.9.167 (talk)

Actually, it could just as easily be Astrid herself. If she were wearing a robe, it might not be obvious she's a woman, especially with her face covered. (Also note that the first time you see her, she wears a mask, so she obviously does that sometimes.) You'd also think maybe members of the DB wouldn't go walking around in public wearing their DB gear - that's like saying "Hey guards! Look at me! I'm a professional murderer!" Also, Astrid doesn't always tell her associates what methods she uses to bring in new recruits. (Babette's dialogue makes this clear.) So we don't know for sure if anyone else was in on it. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 22:55, 20 February 2013 (GMT)
Interesting that you mention the Dark Brotherhood members not wearing their gear outside of the sanctuary, as I always thought that to be a logical inconsistency in the game, guards would, and should be suspicious when my Elf walks past in her full shrouded armour, Daedric Dagger in hand. I remember in Oblivion this was noted, as the wood elf member, whose name escapes me, would conduct recon in civilian clothing, however in Skyrim during Bound Till Death, without spoilers, we see Veezara arrive clad in his standard shrouded gear. I also forgot to mention Anbjorn, though I don't quite think he'd be thrilled to meet members of the public, judging by his character when we meet him. I suppose it could just as easily be Astrid, to be honest, half of the time the couriers in my game forget to wear clothes, nevermind take into account who they're accepting packages from.— Unsigned comment by 2.122.9.167 (talk)
Yeah, forgot about Veezara - also Cicero if you meet him on the road, though his jester clothes aren't quite the same. Though to be fair, everybody is kind of suspicious of him. The only other DB member I've ever seen outside of the sanctuaries is Babette, but due to technical limitations she's always just wearing little girl clothing. (I don't think children can wear anything else no matter what.) The guards in Skyrim do recognize Thieves Guild armor, though they won't arrest you for wearing it. And I've also gotten the occasional "I know who you are, hail Sithis!" from them, though I think that's just from being a member, not from wearing the armor. (I usually don't wear it because I've got better stuff.) Anyhow, there's basically no way of knowing for sure who the message sender was, but Astrid just seems most likely to me, even if that means the Courier couldn't figure out her gender. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 02:33, 21 February 2013 (GMT)
