Skyrim talk:Forebears' Holdout
Dawnguard[edit]
Forebears' Holdout is filled with dead vampires if you're a vampire, and very live Dawnguard, complete with Dawnguard boss. It's been a long time since I played as Vampire so I don't remember the name of the Dawnguard boss, but there were two Husky's near the bridge, an Armored Troll near the fire, and some Dawnguard grunts around the fortifications. --DaedalusMachina 06:28, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Somebody apparently fixed this, cheers. --DaedalusMachina 07:10, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

- I just completed this quest as a Vampire Hunter; there were two Death Hounds patrolling the path near the stairs, one thrall patrolling the wall facing the entrance, one thrall patrolling the stairs leading to the area were the Moth Priest was being held; and the vampire boss Malkus was there with one more Vampire Mistwalker, and one more thrall. I found a dead imperial soldier, but no signs of Vanik, either dead or alive. Just to be sure, I walked around the entire place casting Detect Undead. Cheers.

Respawn time[edit]
I came back almost two months after I first entered and completed Prophet. There are no enemies to be found. Is it because I completed the quest? PrometheusTheElf 03:53, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
- After waiting over a year in-game after completion of the Dawnguard DLC, this cave has yet to repopulate. I can therefore conclude with relative confidence that this cave does not respawn. Garland the Elder 16:12, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- If the {{Place Summary}} template has nothing entered for the
respawn
parameter, the default is "10 days", which is probably why that information was on the page. Unfortunately, the most reliable way to know for sure if/when it respawns is to wait until Dawnguard comes out on PC players can use the CK to find this information, so for now I've placed a {{huh}} tag on the page. ABCface◥ 16:28, 31 July 2012 (UTC)- The Creation Kit confirms it indeed never respawns. I've updated the summary. -CoolGamer 11:21, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

The entrance is quest-specific[edit]
I am at this location, as evidenced by the "five columns of stone leading up to the entrance", but the entrance itself appears blocked with stone, and there is no compass marker for it. I have not progressed the Dawnguard quest line sufficiently yet, so I assume this location is inaccessible until the start of Prophet for either the Vampires or the Dawnguard. Should the access information be present somewhere on the wiki page, such as under the Exterior or Notes sections? — Daric✐ 05:22, 28 May 2014 (GMT)
Unreachable chest[edit]
The page notes a hidden chest behind the tall tower, but there is in fact yet another chest on an even higher ledge above that. So far as I can tell, there is no way to reach it with typical jumping and Whirlwind Sprinting techniques. Other than glitched methods, it might still be possible to reach by using object stacking to create a jump-up to the higher section of the broken tower wall and Whirlwind Sprinting from there. It is possible to jump on top of the nearby coffin which might make for the best starting point. --Olaus (talk) 16:47, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
