Thugs Attack[edit]

After finding the folio, I traveled around Solstheim for a few days, then returned to Raven Rock. After entering the Morvayn house, three thugs were standing to the left of me inside the house and proceed to attack. I exited the house and they followed me outside. The guards helped me dispatch them.

One of the thugs had a letter from Cindiri basically saying that I had stolen the folio and they were to rough me up so I'd return it. Once I entered the house, everything was normal and there was no dialog from Cindiri about the thugs or letter or anything indicating she was upset with me. Andril and Lleril treated me the same.

This also all occurred after I went through the quest with Mogrul (and had immediately intimidated him, ending the quest) so I wasn't sure if this bit with Cindiri was related. In anyrate, it was just an odd aside. Chicagowiz (talk) 12:39, 12 December 2012 (GMT)

This sounds a lot like these thugs in this interaction. Is this what you encountered, or was it a new encounter specific to Dragonborn? — ABCface 15:31, 12 December 2012 (GMT)
This is exactly the note! However, I did not steal anything from Cindiri or from the house, so I'm at a loss to figure out what happened. Perhaps a bug? If so, it was an interesting coincidence that I had the folio prior to meeting Cindiri. Thanks for pointing out the thugs encounter. Chicagowiz (talk) 19:07, 12 December 2012 (GMT)
There's some other oddities when it comes to those hired thug interactions too. For one, you can trigger the encounter by taking a briar heart from a Forsworn briarheart after he dies (this somehow counts as stealing, haha). Another oddity is that the person whose name is on the contract (that is, the person who sent the thugs after you) may already be dead before you steal from them, but the encounter occurs anyway.
So basically, it seems like you just hit one of those weird situations that sometimes occur with the hired thugs. My guess is that the folio is marked as owned by Cindiri from the start of the game, whether you started the quest already or not. So when you grabbed it, it triggered the hired thug interaction because you took something owned by another NPC. Since you can take the book before starting this 'First Edition' quest anyway (I did the same thing), it doesn't really affect anything in terms of the quest itself, so you just got an extra little adventure thrown into your game from it. :) — ABCface 20:55, 12 December 2012 (GMT)

different reward[edit]

I did not receive a gold reward for this quest, instead I was given an enchanted ring (a nice one with +60 health, so presumably leveled). 68.33.196.107 19:21, 5 January 2013 (GMT)

Sorry about that, I've edited the article to remove "gold reward". I originally wrote it from memory and didn't remember for sure what I got as a reward (as noted in my edit summary), but I should have put a {{VN}} tag on it. Feel free to add your reward info to the page. — ABCface 21:42, 5 January 2013 (GMT)

No quest arrow[edit]

I had a hard time completing this quest because (a) there was no quest arrow and (b) the obvious shipwreck off the southern coast had no label. I headed for it anyway and it turned out to be the Strident Squall, thankfully. If this is common, the page should probably include directions to finding the shipwreck. If it's just me, well, I'll survive. Wordmama (talk) 23:18, 3 March 2013 (GMT)

Prequesite Quest[edit]

I got this quest as soon as i first entered Raven Rock and talked to her. I didn't need to finish Cleansing the Stones quest how it is indicated on wiki. Is that a bug or mistake? — Unsigned comment by 62.141.205.102 (talk) at 15:55 on 8 September 2013

I had the same experience as you, I've removed that prereq from the quest header. — ABCface 17:20, 8 September 2013 (GMT)
