Day Count[edit]

In my game, I noticed that Blood of the Ancients lasts for 11 days, and not 9.

The strange thing is that before I got the other "Ancient Hands, I was still at 11. This is what I have retrieved, and in the correct order that I did so: Hands Head Hands Leg Hands -Sean- (talk) 00:42, 18 September 2012 (GMT)

I can definitely confirm that the max is 11 days after many many reloads to get this quest as many times as possible. You never actually get the option for 9 days. I was about to change the page, but the problem is the CSlist reads 9 days too, which is strange (http://cs.uesp.net/index.php?game=sr&formid=0xDG01419b) - unless there is something else at work, like the Necromage perk boosting it maybe?. --Jimeee (talk) 16:02, 6 June 2013 (GMT)
I think I've solved the mystery: the duration is indeed affected by the Necromage perk. After completing Ancient Power twice (for a base time of 5 days) when I drink from the Chalice without Necromage, I get a duration of 5 days. But when I drink from the Chalice with Necromage, I get a duration of 6 days. The Necromage perk boosts magnitude 25% and duration 50%. However, it seems to only boost the Blood of the Ancients effect 25% (perhaps because Blood of the Ancients has no magnitude, only duration). This fits the experiences of 5 becoming 6 and 9 becoming 11, since 5 * 1.25 (rounded down) = 6, and 9 * 1.25 (rounded down) = 11. Bookwyrm1357 (talk) 04:06, 20 July 2014 (GMT)
I'm just looking at it in the CK and that would seem to confirm what you've said. Noticeably, the description states "Your Vampiric Drain spell absorbs Magicka and Stamina from your victims for <mag> days." Notice the <mag>. That would explain why it's only 25% instead of 50%.
