Skyrim talk:Aicantar
Conflicting information[edit]
THERE IS CONFLICTING INFORMATION - AICANTAR'S PAGE SAYS HE WILL BE WITH CALCERMO IN UNDERSTONE KEEP AFTER THE QUEST "HARD ANSWERS"...
"During the quest Hard Answers Aicantar may be present at Calcelmo's laboratory and will also arrive with Captain Aquilius and two Wizard's Guards after you have duplicated the writing on Calcelmo's Stone. All will be hostile to you on sight, but you may choose not to engage Aicantar and instead run to the exterior cell (Markarth) and Aicantar will not follow. After the Hard Answers quest is finished, he will join Calcelmo in Understone Keep and will not remember your presence in the laboratory."
HOWEVER...THE QUEST "ENCHANTING PICK UP" (FROM TURRIANUS) NOTES THAT AFTER "HARD ANSWERS" AICANTAR WILL NEVER LEAVE CALCERMO'S TOWER...
"After the Thieves Guild quest Hard Answers, Aicantar will stay in Calcelmo's Tower and not leave. The dialogue option to accept the item from him is not available. If you try and pickpocket him, he is not carrying the item. He is immediately hostile towards you, and you will receive a bounty in Markarth as a guard will come to your location. Attacking and killing Aicantar fails the mini-quest, but worse, loses a Merchant with Master Trader benefits as well as a high level spell Merchant" — Unsigned comment by 72.9.67.232 (talk) at 18:37 on 12 November 2013
- You are correct. There is conflicting information between these two articles. Also, the Enchanting Pickup note says that killing Aicantar will cause you to lose a high-level spell merchant, but a second note in Aicantar's article says that he will never provide merchant services because Calcelmo is marked as essential. This begs the question as to whether this second note is accurate as well. I will add a vn tag to the article so that this can be verified. Thanks for bringing this up. --Xyzzy Talk 00:23, 13 November 2013 (GMT)

- I'd previously read that Aicantar would remain in Calcelmo's Laboratory after finishing Hard Answers, and then finished the quest without killing him assuming he'd be gone forever. Upon starting Darkness Returns, I decided to go pick up some jobs from Vex and Delvin. Got a Phishing Job to pickpocet a gem off Aicantar. On a whim, I decided to see if he was there, and sure enough he was in his usual place with Calcelmo. Going back to previous saves, it turns out he's there as of the beginning of The Pursuit. I'm on Xbox so no console commands or mods being used. Echo (talk) 05:09, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
- Someone edited the article towards what Echo described, despite the fact that an IP had previously verified the opposite and Echo's experience only provides one counter-example. Also, the conflicting information between the two pages was still there. For now, I have edited both pages to say that each course of events "may" happen, with a vn tag on this page. --Ethruvisil (talk) 22:54, 25 February 2020 (GMT)
