I suppose this is a dumb question, but perhaps there is purpose: would any harm be done in removing the dates on each section of this article as I de-1st pers'ed it? Somercy 12:23, 12 February 2007 (EST)

Nope, no harm at all. Most of the dates (and attributions) that you'll find in older articles such as these are holdovers from the pre-wiki version of the site, and need to be cleaned up. Before the wiki, there was no other way to keep track of who was responsible for a contribution; now the wiki database keeps track of the info so there's no need to clutter the site with it.
The preferred way to clean up pre-wiki stuff is to quote the deleted information in your edit summary: that way, it's visible in the page history, which is the place for information such as who did what and when. So, for example, you could edit the section "The Old Quarter", delete the date, and put in the edit summary "deleting date; content originally written 23 February 1999". Or for the section "Healing", "deleting date and attrib; originally written 5 April 1999, some content written by N'gasta". If that gets to be too tedious on pages with alot of dates/attribs, no one will complain if you take some shortcuts. The dates and attribs will always be available in the originally posted version of the page if anyone needs to track down the info. Thanks again for all the work you've been doing cleaning up pages! --Nephele 12:50, 12 February 2007 (EST)
Thanks, nymphet! You know, I need a pat on the head once in a while... Somercy 12:54, 12 February 2007 (EST)
