Weapon Icon Placement in Tables[edit]

Right now we have table slooking like this with weapon icons in the middle of tables:

Type Level Damage Materials
Base Fine Superior Epic Legendary
Maple Restoration Staff

Altmer Argonian Bosmer Breton Dunmer Imperial Khajiit Nord Orc Redguard
1 9 14 19 25 30 3 Sanded Maple
4 13 18 23 28 33 4 Sanded Maple
6 18 23 28 33 38 5 Sanded Maple
8 22 27 32 37 42 6 Sanded Maple
10 25 30 35 40 45 7 Sanded Maple
12 28 33 39 44 49 8 Sanded Maple
14 32 37 42 47 52 9 Sanded Maple

My concern with this layout is that the weapon icons for racial styles are in the middle of the tale and displace the columns. For instance, we have the "Level" header, then below that the Altmer icon, and then below that 1, 4, 6, etc. This is a bit confusing because the Alter icon has nothing to do with the level and the cells that do contain levels are not adjacent to the level headers. Could we consider moving the weapon icons to outside of the table? Something like this, but prettied up a bit:

12 28 33 39 44 49 8 Sanded Maple
14 32 37 42 47 52 9 Sanded Maple

Or if we definitely want it to be part of the table, why not put it at the bottom?

I like it as part of the table because it provides a visual separation between the different sections. (Compare the top five types vs. the bottom ones where we don't have icons yet, for example.) I'm not averse to putting at the bottom of each section. It's not going to work on the left side like we usually do because there's so many of them for each type. And splitting it into a separate table means the whole table needs to be broken up, which I don't like. But it might be better at the bottom. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 19:02, 11 March 2014 (GMT)
I tried it out on Bows. It could work. I don't think separating them out into another table is a viable solution though - there'd be no good way to keep the icons together with their relevant data. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 19:09, 11 March 2014 (GMT)
Excellent, I'm glad that this will be a possibility! I understand the need to have it as part of the table and it seems like having htem at the bottom is the best solution since it's part of the table, but doesn't split up the columns as the top of the table version did. Thanks for all of the effort you've put in to create these! -Thunderforge (talk) 19:11, 11 March 2014 (GMT)
Done and done. (It helps that the numbers are exactly the same for most items - All 1-handed weapons are the same, all 2-handed are the same, and bows and staves are all the same. Saved me a lot of copy/paste tedium.) — TheRealLurlock (talk) 19:31, 11 March 2014 (GMT)

Merge[edit]

I think it might make sense to merge this page with Destruction Staves, into a new page called simply ON:Staves. The numbers are identical, the graphics are identical, the materials needed are identical. The only differences between them are that Restoration Staves do non-elemental magic damage, and are governed by a different skill. The differences in the skill lines are adequately covered on Restoration Staff and Destruction Staff, so having separate pages for the items with basically no difference on them seems redundant. Destruction Staves already deals with the different types of elemental damage, so we could just add one more for Magic Damage, and a note indicating the different skill, and it would be equally effective without needing a second page. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 12:36, 25 April 2014 (GMT)
