Necessity?[edit]

I'm not entirely convinced we need this page. A better solution to Ladrelas would be to categorise him as both an Armorer and a Clothier. This is what's already done on the relevant tables, so all that needs to be done is to modify {{Online NPC Summary}} to accept two store types. Not really sure what to do with Louarde Barbe - does she have a "(Merchant)" dialogue tag or anything in-game? If we do end up having to categorise her uniquely, it might be best to lump her onto a list with Elite Gear Vendors and Profiteers, so we can keep all these weird ones together. —Legoless (talk) 16:26, 8 March 2015 (GMT)

Louarde Barbe has a "(Weapons)" dialogue tag. I haven't encountered any other vendors with this tag so far. If the template is tweaked, it would make sense to categorize Ladrelas as both types. But that still makes him unique... I may be a bit overzealous with my newly acquired categorizing skills ;p but don't weird types need to belong somewhere as well?   ~ Shuryard (talk) 16:55, 8 March 2015 (GMT)
In that case, maybe a page/redirect at ON:Weapons Vendor would do. Or ON:Weapons (vendor)? A note on Ladrelas' page explaining his weirdness would definitely be appropriate, but I think as far as categorisation goes he's fine. —Legoless (talk) 17:23, 8 March 2015 (GMT)
Okay, this and this makes it consistent with her "(Weapons)" dialogue tag. But the name of the category, Online-Vendors-Weapons (vendor), feels weird, no?   ~ Shuryard (talk) 18:11, 8 March 2015 (GMT)
A little, but I'm not sure how to work around that without another tweak to the template. —Legoless (talk) 18:58, 8 March 2015 (GMT)
How is this for a fix? This way she does not belong to a special category, but is still listed under Vendors.   ~ Shuryard (talk) 20:49, 8 March 2015 (GMT)
Seems fine. Although if this page is gonna list those few unique merchant types, it should probably be renamed to ON:Miscellaneous Vendors instead of an abbreviation. —Legoless (talk) 20:56, 8 March 2015 (GMT)

() I was under the impression we are deleting it, since the peculiar vendors were taken care of. There are more than one Elite Gear Vendors and Profiteers, which makes them qualified for a standard categorization, doesn't it?   ~ Shuryard (talk) 21:09, 8 March 2015 (GMT)

There are three Elite Gear Vendors, but I've only ever seen one Profiteer. Individual pages is fine with me as well, but they'd be very small. I was thinking something similar to Online:Bankers or Tribunal:Services. —Legoless (talk) 21:14, 8 March 2015 (GMT)
Okay, then, I can do it in the following manner. Rename this page to Online:Miscellaneous Vendors. List Elite Gear Vendors and Profiteers on it in addition to Ladrelas and Louarde Barbe. Add all of them to the Category:Online-Vendors-Misc Vendors‎. Take Elite Gear Vendors and Profiteers off of the Online:Vendors page and add this page to the list. How about that?   ~ Shuryard (talk) 23:09, 8 March 2015 (GMT)
I think it would be better to keep the individual links on the Vendors page, and simply redirect them to the sections here. Also, I think Ladrelas is fine where he is on the Armorers and Clothiers lists, since his shops aren't technically unique by themselves. —Legoless (talk) 23:11, 8 March 2015 (GMT)

() On a related note, do you know what icon Luarde uses on the map? —Legoless (talk) 00:24, 9 March 2015 (GMT)

The whole camp is not marked on the map, along with Mages and Fighters guildhalls, and neither is she.
Could you delete Online_talk:Misc Vendors and Online:Misc Vendors pages or it is better to keep them as redirects?   ~ Shuryard (talk) 00:34, 9 March 2015 (GMT)
Done. —Legoless (talk) 01:09, 9 March 2015 (GMT)
Just to jump in on this at the end — in theory, categorising these Miscellaneous Vendors could all be handled by the existing #switch in the template in such a way that you wouldn't need to use |nocat=1 and add all the categories separately for them. All this would require is restoring that Online:Misc Vendors as a redirect, as it would still be the destination page for clicks. --Enodoc (talk) 09:05, 9 March 2015 (GMT)
I'm not sure I am following you... If I set sells to "Profiteer", but I don't want an NPC to be added to the category Online-Vendors-Profiteers, how do I proceed?   ~ Shuryard (talk) 11:56, 9 March 2015 (GMT)
I just need to tweak the template switch, which I was going to do anyway but I thought I'd ask first in case you were happy with the setup as it is now. --Enodoc (talk) 12:49, 9 March 2015 (GMT)
Oh, I see. If you implement it within the template, that would be great.   ~ Shuryard (talk) 14:15, 9 March 2015 (GMT)
Done. I've also readjusted Severa Mamilus and Louarde Barbe to match. --Enodoc (talk) 15:24, 9 March 2015 (GMT)
I almost got it right :) Thank you!   ~ Shuryard (talk) 17:41, 9 March 2015 (GMT)
