Shield Guardian

The Staff Guardian is a mysterious ice construct who can be found in Coral Cavern in the Coral Aerie. It will appear once the Arcane Ward is dispelled.

It is one of the guardians keeping Z'Baza locked away in the Coral Aerie, and one of three optional bosses that can be fought.

Skills and Abilities

Mace Strike

A basic melee attack dealing moderate physical damage.

Overhead Strike

A basic melee attack dealing high physical damage.

Shield Slam

The guardian spins in place and performs a powerful shield bash, dealing very high physical and knocking you away. This attack can be blocked.

Summon Reflections

At 75% and 25% health, the guardian raises its mace in the air and envelops itself in a protective bubble that renders it invulnerable to damage. At the same time, three Reflections of Annihilation are summoned around the arena, which channel a beam into the guardian's bubble. Whirlwinds are in place around the reflections to damage you while you are attacking them, as they are otherwise defenseless and don't attack you directly. The longer you are affected by the whirlwinds, the more damage you take from them, as indicated by your screen becoming frosted.

Dialogue

Once the Arcane Ward is dispelled, the Shield Guardian will appear and address you, its voice sounding artificial:

Shield Guardian: "Inhibitor wards lifted. Activating final seal."

Staff Guardian: "Condition pending. Preparing to abjure."
