Priestess Noebelle

Priestess Noebelle is a Breton priestess of Arkay who can be found on the roads around Tamriel. She is part of a random encounter that only appears during the Witches Festival event.

Dialogue

When approached, she'll say one of two things:

Priestess Noebelle: "This poor soul was ignorant of the dangers of the season."

Priestess Noebelle: "Fortunate that I found this one, before one of the others did."

When you talk to her, she will say:

"Ah, another wanderer, fearless of these dangerous times. But perhaps well-protected against fear."

If you have spoken to her before, she will instead say:

"Once again I find you braving the dark season, wanderer. Fearless despite your fear. Yet still cautious, I hope."

What makes you say I'm fearless?

"Fearless is as fearless does. Everyone is afraid of something, but you having fears and fears having you are two different things."

I have fears like anyone else.

"Let me petition Arkay for courage on your behalf. What horrors of the night trouble you most?"

I fear vampires.

"Ah yes, Vampires. A spreading plague of blood and fangs. A justifiable fear, but one that must be faced in these dark times.
May Arkay grant you courage in your dealings with them. Be safe, wanderer.

I fear werewolves.

"Werewolves. Of course. Prowlers with the cunning of warriors and the savagery of beasts. A justifiable fear, but one that you must surely face in these dark times.
May Arkay grant you courage in your dealings with them. Be safe, wanderer."

I fear skeletons.

"I sympathize. Fleshless, clacking skeletons defy Arkay's will. A justifiable fear, but one that I am sure you will face in these dark times.
May Arkay grant you courage in your dealings with them. Be safe, wanderer."

I have no fear.

"Really? Then you are better equipped for the Witches Festival than most. Farewell."

I have no fear. (If you have the Hollowjack Haunted debuff)

"Really? Then it seems my prayers on your behalf were answered. Excellent! Farewell."

If you choose any of the options that tell her you're afraid of something, you will hear a maniacal laugh and gain the Hollowjack Haunted debuff. Additionally, encounters involving portals to Detritus will spawn enemies that match your fear. Khal H. Hughez will no longer spawn for you unless the fear debuff (which lasts for 24 hours) runs out or you cleanse it by telling Priestess Noebelle that you fear nothing the next time you encounter her. The exception to this is if a nearby player causes him to spawn: you can then interact with him regardless of your fearful status. Similarly, you can interact with portals tailored to a fear different from your own due to the presence of other players.
