Marlene Vanne

Marlene Vanne is a Breton trapped at her family farm. She was sent there from Camlorn by her parents to work the farm for a season.

After the related quest, she and her brother can be found at the fountain in Alcaire Castle.

She is first met yelling out of from behind a locked door.

"Go away! So far, all the crazy people and monsters have just ignored this house. If you keep knocking they'll come and kill you!
And then they'll break down the door and kill me!"

It's safe now. Come out and I'll take you to your brother.

"Safe? You really expect me to believe that? I saw those things. I saw what they did to the farmlands.
There's no way I'm coming out there."

How can I persuade you to trust me? You have to get out of here!

"I don't know. The only way I'm coming out is if there's someone out there to protect me. Someone who can kill those things.
Prove that you can do that and I'll come out. Cut off one of their heads."

[Persuade] If you don't look, you won't know when it's safe.

"Hmm. I guess you're right. All right, I'll come out for a peek, and if it's clear, we can make a run for it. But you'd better protect me!"

If you're unable to convince her to follow you, once you have returned to the house with a dremora head:

"Is that you again? You're really still alive?
You have one of their heads to show me?"

Yes. Here's the head. Now come on out.

"Let me look through the keyhole....
Ew. That's gross. All right, I'll come out. Though I can't believe I'm trusting someone who just showed me a bloody head."

Either persuade her or gather the dremora head and she'll trust you to take her to her brother. While the player is escorting her:

Marlene Vanne:"Let's get going then."

Marlene Vanne:"Come on! What are you waiting for? Let's go!."

If you don't go directly to her brother, she'll lose faith and run back to the house:

Marlene Vanne: "Hey, where are you taking me? Why are we going this way? You're making me nervous."

Marlene Vanne: "Hey. What are you trying to pull here? This isn't the way!"

Once you reach Phinis and Brother Perry, she'll say:

Marlene Vanne:"I'm not stopping here! Those things are too close. I'll meet you at the castle, Phinis!"

Dialogue

After being rescued Marlene can be found sitting in front of the courtyard fountain at Alcaire Castle.

"Oh! It's you! My hero! I can't thank you enough for talking me into leaving that house!
What was I thinking?"
