Ila al-Ragath is a Redguard member of the Undaunted and is a part of Jorvuld Davaux's expedition to Scalecaller Peak. She has taken a particular interest in finding the Daedric artifact wielded by Zaan the Scalecaller—a Dragon Priest buried there. She is also Maj al-Ragath's aunt.

Dialogue[edit]

When she is first encountered in Scalecaller Peak, she and Lodiss are trapped on the other side of a broken bridge. When you approach the first trash mob fight, Ila and Lodiss will acknowledge you.

Ila al-Ragath: "Fighters? What kind of idiots would come to this Eight-forsaken mountain?"
Lodiss the Rock: "What, besides us?"

Once the way is cleared, Jorvuld makes contact with the surviving Undaunted members who are stuck on the other side of a ravine.

Jorvuld Davaux: "How are you all faring? Everyone all right?"
Ila al-Ragath: "Lodiss and I are fine, but Ludovic wasn't so lucky. He fell."
Lodiss the Rock: "Always told him that name of his would do him no good."
Jorvuld Davaux: "I was afraid of that when I saw he wasn't with you. You two stay there, we'll go around to meet up."
Ila al-Ragath: "It's not like we have much of a choice. Just be prepared for battle when you get here."

Once she and Lodiss have been rescued after defeating Doylemish Ironheart.

Jorvuld Davaux: "These gargoyles were just statues the last time I was here. What changed?"
Ila al-Ragath: "Beats me. All I know is that we were stuck between a rock and a pitfall."
Jorvuld Davaux: "Ila, we can't allow the disease to spread. I need you and Lodiss to go back and burn every corpse you find."
Ila al-Ragath: "Fine. Just make sure you don't take down the cult leader without us. We still have a deal."
Jorvuld Davaux: "Yes, yes, you'll have your prize. Just as we agreed."

Ila can be further spoken to:

"You seem to have a knack for battle, but make no mistake. If we hadn't lost Ludovic, me and my men would have cleared this place out."
Tell me about yourself.
"I'm a member of the Undaunted, same as you. Jorvuld hired me to escort him up this mountain, and in return I hired Lodiss and Ludovic. it's as simple as that.
If you've been keeping up with your pledges, you've probably met my niece, Maj. Good lass."
It seems like you'd have hired more people for a job as dangerous as this.
"Huh. And here I thought you were a true Undaunted. The fewer the warriors, the greater the glory. If I had to, I would have taken this mountain by force. Just needed a moment to regain my strength.
I think we're done here. Why don't you move along?"

After the Giant Matriarch Aldis has been killed, Ila and Lodiss return from burning corpses.

Lodiss the Rock: "Looks like the newcomers get to have all the fun today."
Jorvuld Davaux: "Fascinating. I would have expected this illness to weaken the giants, but it seems just the opposite."
Ila al-Ragath: "Yet another reason to wipe the temple clean of this repugnant cult."
Jorvuld Davaux: "While I agree, we also can't allow this sickness to spread. I'll need you and Lodiss to burn the corpses, just like before."
Lodiss the Rock: "Ugh. Just call me Lodiss the Torch."
Jorvuld Davaux: "I doubt it will be any easier going from here, but we'll see you all further up."

Soon Ila and Lodiss will finish and catch up.

Jorvuld Davaux: "Just a moment. I need to get this door for Lodiss and Ila."
Ila al-Ragath: "Seems like these cultists have as much of an affinity for the dead Dragon Priest as you do, Jorvuld. They keep invoking her name."'
Lodiss the Rock: "Bah. You would think these cozies would just worship a Daedric Prince, like any sensible cult."
Jorvuld Davaux: "I'm glad to see you both uninjured…… and unafflicted, I hope?"
Ila al-Ragath: "None of them got close enough to give us their little blessing, I can assure you of that."

Ila can be asked about the cultists:

"By the Eight, I'll be glad when this cult is wiped clean from the face of Nirn."
Can you tell me anything more about the cultists?
"They seem to think this disease they're concocted is a blessing, one that they're happy to share with the rest of Tamriel. The whole thing's repulsive.
"I haven't been this pleased to end someone's miserable existence in a long time."

When approaching Plague Concocter Mortieu:

Jorvuld Davaux: "Ila, hold! Let them take care of this one. I need you and Lodiss to hold off any reinforcements."
Ila al-Ragath: "Ugh! Fine. But our deal still stands. After their leader is felled, I want my payment."
Lodiss the Rock: "By Sovngarde. Let's just focus on bashing in some heads, yah?"

Once Mortieu is dead, Jorvuld will reveal who he thinks is ruling the peak. Ila doesn't care, her eyes are firmly fixed on her prize.

Jorvuld Davaux: "He wasn't the one leading them, I'm afraid. My friends, prepare yourself. For Zaan the Scalecaller...has risen again."
Lodiss the Rock: "The Dragon Priest that's buried here?"
Ila al-Ragath: "She must have it. We need to keept climbing! I will not be denied my prize."
Lodiss the Rock: "Next you'll tell me we have to fight her Dragon, too. Wait. We don't have to...fight a Dragon, do we?"
Jorvuld Davaux: "No, Scalecaller's Dragon abandoned her long ago. I fear she serves a new lord now. Perhaps one just as powerful."

Ila can be questioned about the shield she mentioned.

"Look, we don't have time to stand around and chat.
You mentioned a shield? Is that the prize Jorvuld agreed to give you?
"Well, aren't you a clever one.
Yes, there's a shield in this temple that I want. Not that it's any of your concern, of course."
And you think Scalecaller has it?
"Stands to reason, doesn't it? This cretin certainly didn't.
Look, as I said, we don't have time to stand around and talk. Whoever's ahead is mustering their forces, as we speak. It's best to strike now."

After Zaan has been defeated, Spellbreaker disappears with her and Ila is disappointed.

Ila al-Ragath: "No...no, I was so close! Spellbreaker was within my grasp. It should be mine!"
Jorvuld Davaux: "Is that all you can think of, after all we've been through? Your greed has blinded you, Ila. I pray one day you see that."

She can be spoken to so she can explain why the Spellbreaker was so important to her.

"I was so close. Spellbreaker was right here, waiting for me to just take it. How could I have let it slip through my fingers?"
Spellbreaker? Was that what you wanted all along?
"Of course! The legendary shield, able to block magic itself. What warrior wouldn't wish to claim it? I had caught wind that this cult had it years ago, but I wasn't able to track them down until today.
Well, it's all useless now. It's gone."
Jorvuld's right. You've let your own greed blind you.
"What do you know of my greed? You have no idea how many have died by my side. Comrades, friends, family, all dead because I couldn't protect them. Because I was too weak.
Spellbreaker was my one path to strength, and it's gone!"
The end doesn't justify the means, Ila.
"You have no right to judge me. Just...let me be."
[Persuade] Is this why you didn't hire more soldiers?
"How did you know that?
Fine, I admit it. I kept the group small. I didn't want to take the chance of someone getting greedy and grabbing the shield for themselves. What does that have to do with anything?
Isn't that why you were so quickly outnumbered? Isn't that why Ludovic died?
"I … I …. You're right.
From the very start, I didn't care about this plague. I didn't even care enough about my own men to do right by them. I knew the dangers, and I didn't care. By the Eight, what have I done?"
It's not to [sic] late to make amends and be a better leader.
"I've been such a fool. I forgot what strength truly is. It's fighting for what you believe in. It's protecting those who depend on you.
Thank you for helping me see reason. I'm going to make amends, I swear it."

If the first option option was selected and she is spoken with again, she will not be very happy with you.

"I think it's best you leave. Before I lost my temper and throw you off this bloody mountain."
