Oblivion talk:Gan Luseph
Help![edit]
Gan Luseph has turned hostile to me! He attacks me every time he sees me! I tried the console command "stopcombat" but it doesn't work! Help me! --Neekerisanni123 08:45, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
- As with any NPC, either Charm or yeild him. --SerCenKing Talk 08:59, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

- Well,he is hostile to me only at night. At day he is normal. But I'll try that. — Unsigned comment by Neekerisanni123 (talk • contribs) on 8 April 2009

- Maybe you're trespassing in areas of the castle where you shouldn't be... --SerCenKing Talk 09:34, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Actually,he attacks me just anywhere. The first time he attacked me in the chapel.--Neekerisanni123 09:41, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

- Then maybe you were inside the chapel quarters, where you are trespassing. You probably fled and now he is hostile everytime he sees you. --SerCenKing Talk 09:47, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
I just arrived there, and he was for a strange reason fighting against two other guys in there. Then he saw me and attacked.I came to the chapel to get rid of porphyric hemophilia I got earlier.--Neekerisanni123 09:50, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
His aggression[edit]
The old discussion above made me do a few tests on Gan, as I remember having the same problem when I played through the game the first time - and there is something fishy going on. In the Lords Manor (where he spends time from midnight-6am and from 2pm-4pm) his aggression seems to change depending on, when you meet him. If you expose yourself during the night, he will not even react - but if you expose yourself between 2pm and 4pm, he will turn hostile and cast spells and generally just go nuts. Is there any explanation for this phenomenon? Krusty 17:47, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
- I actually don't think its that odd. I followed him all day up until he went into Lords Manor, fourish, and he and Yvarra were there, spending some time alone... And when I went in there they both attacked me on sight. The only strange thing was that as soon as I yieled to either one of them, they started attacking me again. So I had to run, and a guard arrested me, then they stopped. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 22:43, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

- AMM recently posted something about Gan having a high Aggression. In the CS his aggression is...5. I am leaving it for now but I think we need more opinions.--Corevette789 23:26, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thats whats so odd about it... Gan and Yvara Chanite both attack tresspassers on sight, and won't stop. Others just follow you around their house, and eventually call guards, right? Others do eventually attack you... but him and Yvara are the only ones I've seen attack on sight.--Arch-Mage MattTalk 23:35, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- CS looks normal...--Corevette789 23:36, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- In-game looks normal on the surface too: his Aggression is 5 even as he's casting hostile spells at me! I'll do more research and see if I can figure out what's going on. ‒ Robin Hood↝Talk 03:03, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

- Okay, well, casting hostile spells is normal once they go hostile; I thought Aggression 5 meant they always ran away, but I was wrong. The reason why he's hostile in the Lord's Manor is because that area's marked as being "off limits". This is kind of a "super private" area where the moment anybody sees you, you're considered to have committed a crime. Since both Gan Luseph and Yvara Channitte are from the Lord's Manor, my guess for AMM's problem is that he was there and was caught just as he was about to leave the area. Both of them now consider him to have committed a crime. I can't speak to the fact that they won't accept yields, but that may also be part of the "off limits" scripting. ‒ Robin Hood↝Talk 04:12, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

← I've added a note to Oblivion:Castle Bruma#Lords Manor and removed the one here, since we've now explained at least most of the behaviour. Next time I'm in the game, I'll try to confirm if not accepting a yield, even after leaving the area, is something that the off-limits code does or if it's something else (e.g., Disposition-based). ‒ Robin Hood↝Talk 19:04, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- He does accept yields, just as soon as he stops attacking you he starts again. For me, at least. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 20:33, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- I just tested by "teleporting" to Gan, waking him up, then running out to the Service Hall so no guards would arrest me and he was happy to accept my yield there, though he did warn me that I should leave the Service Hall, since it's not a public area. If I tried in the Lords Manor itself, he would accept and immediately re-engage in combat, since I was still committing a crime by being there. ‒ Robin Hood↝Talk 22:28, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Another data point about Guy[edit]
Just before Guy Luseph showed up and attacked, two "ghost of Guy Luseph" showed up in sequence and attacked, accepting no yield. Then the living Guy showed up, attacked, accepted yield, then attacked again. Yes, I was in an off-limits area.
