A Lizard Sleep Study[edit]

Could Amusei's problems sleeping (mentioned above) be related to the same kind of thing going on at the inn in Anvil (can't seem to get the spelling of the name right but it's 2:30 in the morning right now so that could have something to do with it)?--TheAlbinoOrcGot_a_question? 06:34, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm not really sure what you mean? I don't remember anything really weird going on in Anvil, so you might have to elaborate on that. As for the non-existant sleep for the old lizard, I'm pretty sure that it is caused by his wander package always overriding his sleep package, even if I have not heard it from any CS people yet. On the other hand, I wrote the sleeping-entry in the bugs section a long time ago, and nobody have corrected it yet - so I like to think it is correct. I'll double check with RH70 the next time I see him on the IRC, just to make sure, and post his response here. --Krusty 07:06, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I was refering to the odhdness with Mirabelle Monet where she would appear to be sleeping with someone but not actually be sleeping with them. The really relevant part was that for one of them when she tried to choose him the bed moved somehow and that meant that she would never actually choose him. For Amusei since he only has one option available is it possible that he simply skips the package and goes on with whatever the next highest probability is?--TheAlbinoOrcGot_a_question? 08:02, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, I don't think Mirabelle's odd behavior resembles Amusei's - still, it is worth checking out, just to make sure. Amusei acts weird when it comes to sleeping; when he is done waiting in the Garden of Dareloth at 3pm, he will make an "attempt" to lie down on his bedroll, but it seems like it can't be accessed, so he will just wander around instead. This observation alone makes it kindda interesting because, if his wander package overrides his sleeping package, then he shouldn't make the attempt to sleep. --Krusty 08:13, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
His wander package named TGAmusaiWanderWaterfront overrides all his sleep packages if the quest TG1BestThief is running or the quest TG06Atonement has passed stage 100. I would have thought this would mean he could never sleep in Dareloth's basement as that package is lower priority and only kicks in after the TG06Atonement quest is long complete, and that sleeping in his Waterfront bed never happened because when the package TGAmusaiWanderWaterfront is not available he would be in Leyawiin or Skingrad. The only package he has that ends at 3pm, is TG01AmuseiMidnight. The conditions for this are that the quest TG1Bestheif is running but is not passed stage 70. As therefore package TGAmusaiWanderWaterfront must also be eligible to run at this time, he is not eligible to sleep. The behaviour I suspect is caused by the fact that reference point for the package TGAmusaiWanderWaterfront is actually his bed roll, so I suspect NPCs head to the ref defined by their wander package and then wander from it. Could be that he heads to the reference point (why would he lay down though? Is the ref point on top of or even in the bed?). My question is: Do NPCs have an EVP when they sleep? If so that would explain his attempt to sleep (his sleep package kicks in and doesn't check the priorities of the other packages) and also why it keeps getting interrupted (as soon as he tries to sleep he EVPs and the TGAmusaiWanderWaterfront takes over).--TheAlbinoOrcGot_a_question? 19:36, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
>Jadrax> Pretty complicated post you wrote (for a poor PS3 user), but thanks anyway! Like I wrote somewhere in the above investigation, the only time I have ever seen him actually "lie down" is when he is finished waiting in Dareloth's Garden with Meth and Armand at 3am - before MTBTW. He will then proceed to lie down, realize that he can't do it and then just wander around as usual. I think that split second represents the only sleep he gets in the entire game. And as far as I'm concerned, the only time his wander package ever gets "beaten" by another package is after the questline, when he visits Dareloth's House between 6pm and 2am. Oh, and if you have any answers to the final few questions in the sandbox, feel free to edit! :) --Krusty 19:47, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I think Amusei must be in the top ten of complicated AI Routines. MTBTW is started by the game running, so there is no before it as far as the game is concerned. I am wondering if the fact that the reference for the wander package is the bedroll itself leads to unexpected behaviour, as its something that seem to be avoided elsewhere. New bug[edit]

"It's possible to ask Amusei about Glarthir." was recently added as a bug. Is this really considered a bug? Since he's in the Skingrad Citizen-Faction it's only natural for him to do this. My point is that if this indeed is a bug shouldn't the bug be the fact that he's in this faction. (I don't personally think neither of these are bugs but if someone insists on it I would probably rephrase it to to more emphasize on the faction) MrL 14:43, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure it makes sense for you to be able to ask him about Glarthir if he's in the Skingrad Citizen's Faction - I've removed it as a bug, open to further discussion here. Kitkat TalkContribE-mail 15:14, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Question about his career[edit]

What's the deal with him being promoted and demoted within several quests? I would understand a simple career and it's great that the ranks of NPCs are more fluctuating than they were in Morrowind, but why is he promoted then demoted and then promoted again within one single quest? Is there an explanation anywhere? Is it somehow necessary from the game engine's perspective? (I noticed that the same applies to Methredel... what's up with that?) -Meisterdieb (talk) 18:37, 8 March 2013 (GMT)
