Michael Kirkbride[edit]

Should I add a note that Michael Kirkbride is probably the author and his similarity to the pseudonym?58.175.56.157 04:03, 15 January 2013 (GMT)

You mean the real life Bethesda employee who wrote it? No, that information is impossible to verify and isn't really all that helpful in an article like this. Just because the name is similar doesn't mean he wrote it :) Jeancey (talk) 04:13, 15 January 2013 (GMT)
I've noticed this brought up several times before, and I think it's pretty self-evident that the author's name is a pseudonym for Michael Kirkbride, who claims authorship of the book in real life. If anyone really needs that made explicit, they can always ask him on tumblr or a handful of other channels. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 05:20, 18 February 2014 (GMT)
Yep. And if anyone is interested the "uxor" part in the surname Karkuxor supposedly means "bride/wife" in latin. --Jimeee (talk) 11:40, 18 February 2014 (GMT)
I just mean, it isn't obvious if you don't follow MK, nor is it all that important. We don't normally list real-life authors of in-game books, no matter how many worshippers they have gathered into their cult. Jeancey (talk) 17:10, 18 February 2014 (GMT)
Real-life authors of in-game books don't normally use their own name as a basis for the fake author name. If a book's author was Douglass Goadevery, it was written IRL by Douglas Goodall, and a non-book note is being added anyways to address another matter, then I don't see the downside of adding a short sentence to that note highlighting the connection. Plenty of notes lack what I would consider important info, but I wouldn't challenge their relevance. And I don't pray at the Altar of Michael in the Temple of Kirkbride. I just go there to people-watch and take the tour.
I noticed this connection a long time ago, as I'm sure many others have. And I ignored it, because by itself, I agree it's not all that important. But now we have something to say for these pages (namely, that there's another version available). So since we should now have a note anyways, we might as well note the stuff that's noteworthy. If we HAVE to have it, I insist that it be listed second, since the other note is the important one, and that it only be listed on the hub page, not every one of the specific book pages. Jeancey (talk) 19:04, 18 February 2014 (GMT)
Like so? Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 19:38, 18 February 2014 (GMT)

Linking Khenarthi & Kynareth[edit]

Well...it appears I had a little trouble there trying to link Khenarthi, as mentioned in the Elsweyr pantheon, to either Kynareth right in this article OR to Kynareth's own Lore-page.

I apologize for the waste of time this might've caused for those who've fixed up my blunder. WintersetAltmer (talk) 01:24, 16 October 2013 (GMT)

We were lacking a redirect for this name. I don't see where the two gods are linked with each other, so it's far better imo to link it to the section on the Khajiit page rather than presume they are the same god based solely on pronunciation. I'm not entirely clear on the page alterations at issue here (very lazy), but from a lore perspective, it can be safely presumed that the two gods are linked. While the link is not explicitly stated in this instance, one or two sources in the lore (PGE1? PGE3? I forget exactly) establish that other cultures view the Khajiiti pantheon as directly correlated to the deities recognized by others. Azurah = Azura, Lorkhaj = Lorkhan. It's a very safe bet that Khenarthi = Kynareth; we've been given every reason to think this is the case. It's not just the name, either; Words of Clan Mother Ahnissi establishes that Khenarthi holds dominion over "the Winds", exactly like Kynareth. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 03:09, 16 October 2013 (GMT)
Unlike the other names Khenarthi wasn't internally page linked; it was linked using the template {{Lore Link|, but there was no redirect either. If we're linking the two then it needs mentioned on Kynareth's page, and I'd rather it linked directly there as the link is not as clear (to me anyway) as for example Sheggorath and Sheogorath.
