Fargoth, Notable or Piece of Cheese Cake[edit]

In my personal opinion, Fargoth is not notable enough to be placed on this page. He is only involved in two short quests. This does not make him worthy of an entry. What makes him even less worthy enough is that his current entry only says, "A Wood Elf in the town of Seyda Neen". --Ratwar 01:46, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

I'd tend to agree - Fargoth's notability is pretty much invented by the fans, much like that of the Adoring Fan in Oblivion. However, it would be a mistake to say that he is "not notable", mainly because of the notoriety - even invented notoriety - that he had among the Morrowind fan-base. Entire mods, many of them less-than-trivial, were created based on the character. People came up with hundreds of creative ways to kill him (also like the Adoring Fan), and for a while, he was one of the most common topics discussed on the TES Forums site. (Either people making threads about how much they hated him, or other people starting threads asking why everybody hated him.) No other character has ever been so commonly discussed as him. Like it or not (personally I don't), the character has a history with the fan-base, and is notable for that alone. Perhaps if some of this were discussed in his entry instead of just the basics (Wood Elf, Seyda Neen), it might be worth keeping. Heck, he even had a (surprisingly lengthy) article on Wikipedia for a while. Not too many other characters can boast that. --TheRealLurlock Talk 09:32, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

Provisional dates[edit]

I've added dates of known activity for people previously listed as (?b - ?d) as per this discussion. Please suggest/add modifications. A couple of notes:

  • Chieftan Fiasof: Could be listed as (fl. before 2E 582) but since there's a question over whether he even existed I felt such a broad date was unhelpful.
  • Frincheps, Archprince etc etc: The link in his entry points back to this page (as with several other characters I've found).
