Mzund
Type Dwemer Ruin
Continent Tamriel

Mzund is a Dwarven ruin. Its exact location is unknown, though it was no further than 18 days of travel from Arkngthamz. The library in Mzund contained tomes with maps of the first-era Dwemer kingdoms.[1] It was abandoned in 1E 700 when its original Dwemer inhabitants mysteriously disappeared.[2]

In the Fourth Era, on the 4th of Last Seed, soon after the publication of The Aetherium Wars by Taron Dreth the explorer and real author of the research included in the book Katria explored into Mzund to find the location of the Aetherium Forge. She discovered an ancient tome containing a map of the first-era Dwemer kingdoms and copied it down. Soon after visiting Mzund, she headed to Arkngthamz, where she tragically died.[1][3]

Circa 4E 201 a Dunmeri wizard Ulyn accompanied by his companion Eydis ventured to the ancient Dwemeri site of Fahlbtharz in search of a Dwemeri helmet known as the "Visage of Mzund" [4][5] They perished before being able to reach the artifact.[6][7] The helmet was later discovered by the Last Dragonborn within the treasure room inside Fahlbtharz. It bestowed the wielder the ability to release a powerful steam attack known as the Breath of Nchuak.[8]
