Deletion[edit]

There is value to having these categories, but only for those than be 100% certified as that race, such as S'rathra or Cyrus. The amount of pages in these categories is no excuse. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 11:36, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

You bring up a good point. My main concern is the identification of race because the game has no mechanics to determine it. I have a feeling most NPCs that are human but not stated to be Imperial, Breton, or Nord are assumed to be Redguard, but that's up for debate. I'm still hesitant to keep these categories because race is purely aesthetic, but if there is some value in keeping them, then I'll repeal my proposal. —Dillonn241 (talk) 16:44, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
While Redguard has no racial differences that can be used to support the need for racial categories in other namespaces, it the same reason we have these categories in lorespace; race exists and often has a bearing on a persons views and reasons for doing things. There are of course many problems with lumping people together like that, but something like race is (usually) unchangeable and certain. Trying to identify the races has the same problem in ESO, where it is often estimation and informed guesswork that leads to some decisions regarding the humans (and elves in some cases). Because it is a region of Hammerfell then it would be easy to assume that Redguards are the prevalent race, but it is also a busy port where many races intermingle. Care needs to be taken when deciding, but with careful reasoning the right conclusions can be made. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:11, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
