Letter of Recommendation
A letter rejecting a budding mage's application to the Synod due to poor performance in Destruction magic and lack of useful connections

(The first paragraph of the letter is blotted out, as if an inkwell was spilled across the page.)

...regards to the initiation of one Galarynn of Bruma. While it is true that she shows aptitude for Restoration and alchemy, I've seen goblins with a better grasp of Destruction magic. Honestly, how can one fail to immolate a dummy with a fireball? It is made of straw. She has been, by far, the poorest student of the destructive arts I have ever tested. In addition, she was quite resistant to any suggestion on my part pertaining to her improvement in that area.

Most importantly, the applicant would be of little leverage to us. She does not have any desirable connections or associations, and in accepting her the Synod would, in fact, be performing more of a service to her than her usefulness to the Synod warrants--a situation, I am sure, we all wish to avoid.

With that in mind, it is my opinion that Galarynn of Bruma is ill suited to Synod membership, and therefore should be denied entry into its ranks until the time she demonstrates a more evenly distributed understanding of the schools of magic, or some other reasonable justification for acceptance.

With absolute assurance,

Cadius Venucius
