Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

The first time you speak with Virani in the Twin Goblet Alehouse, as soon as you leave the building a girl named Elaine Breucombe will approach with her parents and identify you as either the father of her unborn child, or the sister to the father of her unborn child, and her father Lucien Breucombe will demand that you marry Elaine or provide compensation for the cost of raising a child. Lucien threatens to call the guards and invent a crime to accuse you of which would result in your execution unless you can prove your innocence.

Follow the Breucombe family back to their house and speak privately with Elaine in her room upstairs (you can gain access to the house between the hours of 8am and 8pm every day). She will reveal that she was afraid to tell her father the truth and accused you in a panic. The real father of her unborn child was an adventurer who disappeared about six months ago after speaking with a woman in a red robe who was staying at the Twin Goblet Alehouse. Speak to Virani again, and she will suggest that a fellow member of the Archaeology Guild, Sova* may have employed the adventurer to explore the Ayleid ruins beneath Chorrol. If you have not already started the quest Gate Into A Dark History then you will now have to do so in order to enter the Deep Underground Cavern.

Within the cavern at the north end, find two dead adventurers killed by a gas trap, and retrieve a note written to Elaine from one of the bodies. Return to Virani at the entrance to the cavern and ask her to see the bodies for herself, then ask Virani to meet you in the Breucombe House.

Head back to Chorrol above ground, and meet Virani in the Breucombe House. With her help Lucien will accept that you are not in any way responsible for Elaine's pregnancy. If you give Lucien some gold to help with raising the child, you may receive one fame point. You can also choose to give the note from the dead adventurer to Lucien, or to Elaine.

Notes[edit]

* Parts of this quest relating to visiting the Archaeology Guild are skipped if the mod The Lost Spires is not installed. If The Lost Spires is installed, then Virani will send you to speak to Sova in the Archaeology Guild south of the Imperial City, and Sova will be the one to reveal that she employed the adventurer to explore the Ayleid ruins beneath Chorrol, sending you back to Virani in Chorrol.

Journal Entries[edit]

Stage Finishes Quest Journal Entry
1 A girl in Chorrol named Elaine Breucombe approached me with her parents, and claimed I am the sister of the father of her unborn child! I must prove that I have no connection to Elaine's present condition, otherwise her parents will force me to compensate them in recompense for my "brother's" actions. I need to speak with Elaine in private.
1 A girl in Chorrol named Elaine Breucombe approached me with her parents, and accused me of being the father of her unborn child! I must prove that I had nothing to do with Elaine's present condition, otherwise her parents will force me to marry her. I need to speak with Elaine in private.
10 Elaine told me that the last time she saw the man was just before he went to speak with a woman dressed in red, who was staying at the Twin Goblet Alehouse. This was about six months ago though, could it have been Virani of the Archaeology Guild?
15 Virani believes that a fellow guildmember named Sova was in Chorrol about six months ago. Sova should presently be at the Archaeology Guild's headquarters south of the Imperial City. Virani has marked it on my map.
20 Virani believes that a fellow guildmember named Sova was in Chorrol about six months ago. Sova may have employed the real father of Elaine's unborn child to explore some Ayleid ruins buried beneath Chorrol. Perhaps he is still down there, all these months later?
25 Sova employed the real father of Elaine's unborn child to explore some Ayleid ruins buried beneath Chorrol. Perhaps he is still down there, all these months later?
30 I found two dead adventurers not far from the silver gate, killed by an Ayleid gas trap. The male adventurer must have been the man Elaine met, the father of her child - he even had a note written to her. But I still need to persuade Elaine's family, they won't just take my word for it. Perhaps Virani could act as witness?
40 Virani will meet me back at the Breucombe family home when I am ready, to confirm that I found the real father of Elaine's unborn child dead in the cavern beneath Chorrol.
50 Lucien Breucombe has apologised for accusing me and trying to make me responsible for his daughter and her unborn child. He has asked me to let Elaine know of my findings.
90 Finishes quest☑ I gave Elaine the note written by the adventurer. She became very sad when she read it, but at least now she knows the full truth.
100 Finishes quest☑ I let Elaine know that I found the man who made her pregnant, dead in the caverns beneath Chorrol. She is saddened at the news, but her family will help her get over him.
Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On PC It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage BANChorrolPregGirlQuest stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
