I'm baaaaack...

About two months ago I bought the GOYT edition for the PC. They recommended that I remove any previous versions of Oblivion before installing GOTY. So... I did... Big mistake... The disks didn't work and I had no Oblivion... :-( It took two weeks for Bethesda to replace the disk the first time. The replacement didn't work. I am still waiting for my second replacement after almost three weeks. To top it off, they have assured me that the second disk I sent back was ok. This means either my drive can't read the disk or some software is conflicting with the installer. (Can you say copy-protected in the EXTREME?) I apparently either have to go through an extensive troubleshooting process with tech support where I will be required to expose pretty much EVERYTHING about my computer in the hopes that the offending app(s) is/are identified, or get a new computer. Assuming of course I ever get a copy of GOTY disk 2 back...

Needless to say, if I can't play the game, I hardly feel like writing about it... :-(

Anyone have any ideas regarding install error -5006? Or ideas on how I can get Bethesda tech support to pay attention to me?

Since only Patrollers and Admins are likely to read this, I'd suggest posting your plea somewhere like the Tech Support talk page, though honestly, I'm not entirely sure where the best place is...but at least that'll be more public and garner more replies. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 18:50, 26 June 2008 (EDT)
