Separate Quest?[edit]

Is this part of this quest or is it actually an entirely separate quest? — ABCface 01:38, 16 December 2012 (GMT)

A lot of things are quests in a technical sense. This one seems to be a world encounter with an objective. Some of the conditions are: random chance, player is on Solstheim, player level is at least 25, The Way of the Voice was completed, At the Summit of Apocrypha was not completed. I guess it is some kind of random cultist attack or such. --Alfwyn (talk) 16:24, 16 December 2012 (GMT)
The quest does create the Cultists' Orders, so it may be an alternative way to start the main quest if you traveled to Solstheim on your own whim. --Alfwyn (talk) 16:38, 16 December 2012 (GMT)
Interesting. On a separate character (level 81, completed all of main questline in Skyrim) I managed to get the Dragonborn quest to start, but that was just to test if I could and I haven't played on that one since. On the character that I'm currently playing, I haven't been able to get the main Dragonborn questline to start at all... I traveled to Solstheim on my own, and was attacked by cultists three different times there (always at All-Maker Stones, dunno if that's coincidence or not) but not a single one of them had the Cultists' Orders in their inventory. It sounds like this might be the world encounter I'm getting (all the conditions fit), but without the the objective or Cultists' Orders... Not sure if there's a very similar but separate world encounter I'm getting instead, or if I'm getting this one and it's bugged. =\ — ABCface 18:20, 16 December 2012 (GMT)
I realized after starting the Dragonborn quest that this encounter is not what I was getting in what I described above. What I was getting occurs even after starting that quest.
Even though this quest isn't actually a part of that one, someone put a merge tag on the page and other users had already been adding information regarding this quest on that page, so I went ahead and rewrote that page with the information from this one on it. I guess I'll wait a while for any feedback regarding that edit or this merge before fully merging it. Since this one isn't a named quest in your journal, we'll have to make a note of that on that page, and add the additional category. Other than that, a simple redirect will work. — ABCface 15:56, 31 December 2012 (GMT)
Looking into this matter myself (and knowing that I'm only offering my opinion from a limited perspective here), for the purposes of keeping this questline easy to follow on the UESP, I recommend merging it. The quest page right now is empty, and any information added to it about the quest or images, or the like would only be duplications of what you would find on the main quest page. () I assumed that the QUST record "Cultists vs Player" was just a WI, and edited the name of the WI on the World Interactions page accordingly. I'm not positive, but I think the Cultists' Orders are only created by this quest if you haven't completed stage 5 of the quest Dragonborn and gotten the Orders from those Cultists. This may mean that this quest is what triggers the appearance of the Orders and starts the Dragonborn quest, or this could just be a repeatable wilderness encounter that will trigger the Dragonborn quest if you haven't been attacked by the Cultists in a city. I don't see anything in its scripts that allows it to occur in a city though, so I'm not positive. We may need some expert assistance from someone who is good with the Creation Kit.

I was also attacked by a single Cultist at the Water Stone, and he wasn't carrying the orders. It appears that he is a scripted resident of this stone, and not a WI. --Xyzzy Talk 04:40, 31 July 2013 (GMT)

If no one else adds anything here within the next day or two, I'll go ahead and merge the pages. The other quest page does already have the information from this one merged, with the assumption Alfwyn's guess is right- just an alternative way to start if you've traveled on your own rather than waiting for an attack in the city. — ABCface 02:18, 15 August 2013 (GMT)
I support the merge. --Xyzzy Talk 00:14, 1 October 2013 (GMT)
