""Better to keep your silence and be thought an imbecile, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!" —Knavus Tharn[1]

Knavus Tharn was an Imperial member of the royal House Tharn of Cheydinhal, ancestor and descendant of numerous famous figures.[1][2]

Little is known of Knavus' past, except that he originated from the prestigious Tharn family. He was born in the early years of Second Era, long before the birth of his great-grandson in 2E 418.[3] He was known for coining the phrase: "Better to keep your silence and be thought an imbecile, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!".[1]

He was a descendant and an ancestor of several other famous figures. Tharanus Ye Redde-Hand of Fanacas, Vilius Tharn, the Blade-Serrator and Master of the Abbatoir and Arch-Prelate Fervidius Tharn of the Alessian Order, General Turpis "Volte-Face" Tharn, Regulus Tharn and Minister Excoraeus Tharn were his distant ancestors. He was also a great-grandfather of the famed Chancellor Abnur Tharn and Queen of Rimmen Euraxia Tharn, a great-great-grandfather of Empress Regent Clivia Tharn, and ancestor of many other famous individuals of the House Tharn such as Septima Tharn and Javad Tharn.[1][2]
