Notes[edit]

Playthrough #2 notes:

-First excavation at 10 gift points. Gift points were tied to exclusively gifts, not crystals. For some reason at least one gift item (Mummified Finger) was worth multiple gift points. -Second excavation at 13 gift points, Varus arrives in camp. From a distance he has the sprite of the Overseers. Upon approach he gave the message "You are blessed to be part of my plans to rid the Empire of evil. Do your part and your days here shall have a minimum of pain." -Excavations may be related to handing in crystals but that's much more difficult to track. Also game doesn't seem to differentiate between crystals picked up by enemies vs those in chests. All crystals received so far are Filled. -Third excavation at 20 gift points, no Varus. So Varus shows up in the Dungeon Camp? Guess I got that bit wrong then. I assumed he appears when you use the camp action, similar to the Gehenoth. Does he appear in the very centre? —Legoless (talk) 17:36, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
Yes, in the center of Dungeon Camp, after every other excavation or so. Presuming the player approaches him to get through camp, it forces the dialogue screen with him. If you ignore him and wander away he stays put until this happens. (You would be unable to go anywhere but further south, I'm not sure if they have a contingency for multiple dungeon upgrades without speaking with him.) Msico (talk) 05:31, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
Fourth excavation at 27 gift points. Second Varus in camp appearance. Speech is "I know you steal from us, but you are an effective tunnel rat. Don't be greedy, and I shall overlook your indiscretions." Noted that Varus is solid; after exiting the dialogue, you cannot step into him but must step away or he stays there. I beat the game again and noticed not only that the last dungeon Varus occupied was in the same direction, but the layout was noticeably the same, his placement was the same, and at least one treasure in the room he was in was both in the same spot and also a scroll. It wasn't the same spell so the item may have been a coincidence, but I'm going to do a bit of research later in the weekend to see if the maps actually aren't random like we thought. Maps won't be random on the same device, so it's possible that Varus' direction and placement work in a simular manner. —Legoless (talk) 22:19, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
