Guild Master Chest Safe For Use?[edit]

Does anyone know if the Guild Master chest is safe to store items in, or will they vanish when it respawns? Voraxith 23:14, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

It spawns items so I would think it is unsafe. — Unsigned comment by 217.35.91.132 (talk) at 21:39 on 12 December 2011
I've heard that, supposedly, it will "double the value" of items placed in it over time. Can't confirm what that means, nor if it's true, though.

Guild armor.[edit]

If someone sells the guild armor at the start is there any way to get another set to finish this quest as you cant upgrade the armor if you dont have it? Thanks — Unsigned comment by 80.195.247.213 (talk) at 18:26 on 11 December 2011

I don't think you need the old set since I never had to turn in my old armor to get the guild master armor. 128.61.88.80 01:35, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

You do need some piece of the old set to continue. Luckily, you can find guild boots and gloves in the Cistern; trade in either one to upgrade the armor and finish the quest. Robert The Rebuilder (talk) 01:36, 12 December 2012 (GMT)

Matching Set Perk (Light armor)[edit]

The Guild Master's armor doesn't seem to apply the matching set perk in the light armor tree (+25% armor if all armor from the same set), even when I'm wearing all 4 pieces + the amulet of articulation. 128.61.88.80 01:37, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Quest Glitched[edit]

This is my second time playing through Skyrim. The first time I did the thieves guild quests, everything went smoothly with no bugs or glitches. However, this time the quildmaster quest has glitched on me. I completed all of the special quests (one in each major city). When I talked to Delvin and completed the last special quest, nothing happened. The guildmaster quest is supposed to pop up right after I finish talking to him, but nothing happens. I have tried all of the supposed bug fixes, but those didn't work. I can console command "completequest TGLeadership" and it will finish the guildmaster quest, but then Tonilia doesn't give me my guildmaster armor. I could just console command those in as well, but the guild doesn't recognize me as the new guildmaster. Really frustrating. Fortunately I have a save before I turned in the last special quest for Delvin, so I will just wait for a patch and complete this quest later. (99.136.224.214 05:08, 13 December 2011 (UTC)) " Canconfirm the "setStage TGLeadership 0" worked for me, much thanks for the workround, very frustating, such annoy 00:46, 16 March 2014 (GMT)

Bug (Xbox 360)[edit]

One no-one seems to be talking about anyway. Didn't try to do this until very late in the game, did all the special jobs and this quest never initialised. It's not in the quest menu, can't talk to anyone about it. Brynjolf or whatever his name is just hangs around the cistern saying he's busy. Tried all suggested fixes, none of them work. Straw that broke the camels back, trading the damn thing in tomorrow, just thought I'd share the info, as it were. — Unsigned comment by 91.125.92.127 (talk) at 23:26 on 19 December 2011

Possible Bug?[edit]

In my game the Guild Master's chest is not visible in front of the desk therefore is inaccessible. I used the console command to make me a Guild Master after the main quest was done and Mercer was killed. Is this a bug? If so, any workaround to this bug? — Unsigned comment by 174.95.205.40 (talk) at 04:35 on 29 December 2011

Glitched! (Xbox 360)[edit]

ARGH! This quest is glitched. Second save and still not working. I complete the previous quest successfully, am told to come back to the Thieves Guild to become Master. Once inside, everyone is gathered in the cistern except Bryjolf (sp?, sorry), who is in his proper place in the practice room waiting to speak to me. He tells me it's time to make it all official, all I need to do is go back to the cistern for a brief ceremony.... and that's where it dies. Everyone is gathered, I take my place and I get a quest marker...and nothing happens, and the marker for becoming the master remains hollow. Vex, Brynjolf, Kalia (sp) and Devlin are clustered in the middle, everyone else on the perimeter, and there is nothing I can do to trigger completion. I've talked to everyone in the room, changed outfits, left and returned, and waited 12 hours, and still nothing. Cannot interact with anyone except to be told to wait until the ceremony is completed. Can't trade, get new quests, finish old ones, etc. I had 3 of the 4 new tradespeople in the Ragged Flagon and now can't get the last. Any help, please. Oshaugm 04:02, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Killing Sapphire finally proved to be the answer. Doesn't make sense to me, but I'm glad it worked. Oshaugm 03:00, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
Huh, did you still have the Skyrim:Stabilized quest going? Necropost I know, but I'm curious. 99.125.251.122 07:13, 3 May 2017 (UTC)

PS3 bug.[edit]

ive read about the "under new managment" bug and im still a little lost.i cant become the guild-master because i completed the main questline before the others and Brynjolf wont talk to me, he just says hes to busy and for me to comeback later. any sudgestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you. — Unsigned comment by Nervosa (talkcontribs) on 12 January 2012

Before completing the questline[edit]

How much of this quest can I complete before finishing Darkness Returns? Can I get the reputation jobs? Will the guild and fence gold improve? If not, will the game remember how many small jobs I completed when I do qualify? --Darth l33t 22:47, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I think you can still get reputation jobs (and the improvements from completing them) before completing Darkness Returns. eshetalk 16:33, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Guild Master's Tribute Chest[edit]

I have finished the TG questline. Brynjolf continues to say he is busy and the tribute chest will not respawn. What have a done or not done? I want my goodies from the chest.Dfyoung12 03:06, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Not Sure About This Bug...[edit]

I had already taken jobs in Windhelm from Vex and Delvin when I talked to Mercer and got this quest. I haven't gone to meet him at Snow Veil Sanctum yet. I did the jobs in Windhelm, then went to turn them in, but was given no dialog options from Vex or Delvin about the jobs, but the quest journal markers all pointed to them. Wound up just using the console to complete the quests. Took two jobs in Whiterun, then, and went back to turn them in, but again no dialog options. Tried to use the console again, but wouldn't work. Has anyone seen something like this? Is it part of this quest that until it's complete, you can turn in side quests? Voraxith 10:30, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

Different Sapphire Fix[edit]

I found that instead of killing sapphire it was sufficient to do her quest with the stable boy and wait for her to return to the thieves guild once it's done (I also talked to her about her past but that probably didn't affect it). Then I had to do the setstage console command (which had had no effect previously, but if I hadn't already done all of the main tg quest and the quests to take back the cities it probably would have been sufficient to finish one of those instead. — Unsigned comment by 84.45.236.142 (talk) at 14:37 on 17 July 2012

360 Bug.[edit]

I did the main story, then started on the side missions to get the achievement. Not only can't I start the final quest to become the guild master, I can't even find Brynjolf in the Guild areas... Any ideas on how to fix it? --Pigl33t 11:45, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

possible bugfix[edit]

Hi

If you are unable to start "under new management" even with "setstage ...", you probably have the mod "vendors have more money" installed. Start your mod manager, deactivate the mod and restart the game. "Setstage tgleadership 10" should work now. It seems, that this mod breaks the quest "become a full member of the thieves guild" too.

Sapphire needs to be in the Bee and Barb?[edit]

It seems Sapphire being in the Bee and Barb is a pre-requisite for this quest. Simply overhearing the conversation between her and Shadr is enough, you don't need to trigger his quest.

I purposefully avoided that section of Riften because I wanted to use the Guildmaster dialogue option in Stabilized immediately after their conversation. But surprise surprise, I can't become Guildmaster because this quest won't trigger. The console commands wouldn't work either (tried stage 10 and 50 and got "GetStage >> 0.0" in return). That is, until Sapphire was in the Bee and Barb. Then badda bing badda boom, they worked like a charm.

So this might not solve the actual triggering of the quest but should if the console commands aren't working.
