New Redguards?[edit]
Several people have noted new Redguard NPCs in the major holds in Skyrim. Is this true? If so, who are they? Camron J. H. 68.229.252.3 13:50, 5 September 2012 (EDT)
- totally saw a new one, she was a bandit leader who attacked me at Lakeview manor, Her name was 'Rochelle the Red' never seen her before. — Unsigned comment by Romandoug (talk • contribs) at 03:42 on 20 December 2012

- Yes, she is created by the quest BYOHHouseBanditAttack2. She will be an LvlBanditBossEvenTonedF, so she will always be a female Redguard. I guess she deserves a page, we could document details of the attack there. Then again the quest has no good name, but two objectives - "Rochelle the Red (quest)"? --Alfwyn (talk) 12:54, 20 December 2012 (GMT)
Gunjar[edit]
Is there really a second NPC named Gunjar who acts as a carriage driver? The name links to the dead Stormcloak you get your initial equipment from (if you choose to follow Ralof) in the quest Unbound.
- Apparently so. I just checked, and his name is definitely Gunjar. 67.170.48.108 23:01, 5 September 2012 (EDT)
- I've edited the link, there are other instances of NPCs with the same name, and when the individual NPC pages are created, there will be information for the appropriate Hearthfire version on the correct page. — ABCface◥ 23:02, 5 September 2012 (EDT)
- Thank you both. I was merely concerned about vandalism and, instead, gained knowledge I may end up with a favorite carriage driver. — Unsigned comment by 75.92.203.57 (talk) at 03:07 on 6 September 2012

Windstad Housecarl[edit]
The housecarl for Windstad Manor (Morthal) is Valdimar, not Vladimar. I'm looking at him on my television now. I changed the name in the article to reflect that, but someone changed it back. I've changed it back again. Looking forward to the PC release of this so I can check out what skills this guy uses- he seems to be more magic-oriented than other housecarls, primarily using Flesh spells and Ice Spike in tandem with his mace.24.22.241.1 12:43, 6 September 2012 (EDT)
I don't think the stewards are "immortal"[edit]
Usually NPC's kneel down when they take enough damage and can only truly be killed by the Dovahkin. However I'm thinking that the new housecarls that appear with the Hearthfire installment aren't immortal and -can't kneel- It would explain for their sudden dissapearance I think. Since Morthal doesn't have a house of the dead I checked out Solitude's to see if I could find a new coffin there. There were two useable coffin's there one belonged to Ragvir and the other was empty.--67.185.108.121 17:21, 6 September 2012 (EDT)
- *UPDATE* Theory proven wrong, after about 2 or 3 days of being away from Winstead, my housecarl valdmir or vladimar turned up.--67.185.108.121 19:54, 6 September 2012 (EDT)

- Thats odd cos I tried to kill lydia but she seemed to be immortal can anyone reply if this happened
- To them cos I really don't want to have to go back to becore I built the house for morthal — Unsigned comment by 122.106.82.113 (talk) at 23:20 on 28 June 2013
Need a list of new named enemies[edit]
Okay so so far I can confirm at least 1 new hostile NPC. Rochelle the Red, Female Redguard bandit chief. Will attack your house at Lakeview along with possibly a couple other leveled bandits. Can't confirm if she attacks the other estates or if there are different named NPCs for those ones. Lord Eydvar Talk | Contribs 18:03, 9 September 2012 (EDT)
Bards for Homes[edit]
I am wondering if it is possible to hire other bards for your house instead of the required three. I know you can choose any follower to be your steward, but can you do the same thing for a bard as well?--129.44.187.119 13:34, 12 September 2012 (GMT)bepease2269
- Hey, and is it possible to hire a second bard if your first one is killed? My bard ("the Nightingale") was killed during a Bandit attack... -.- — Unsigned comment by 200.186.239.8 (talk) at 02:02 on 24 November 2012

- No I dont believe it is because when I kill em cos he wasn't singing the dragon bourn comes I went to lydia to rebuy someone she then accepted the coin and I dident get a new one this also happened to my carrige driver — Unsigned comment by 122.106.82.113 (talk) at 23:15 on 28 June 2013
-I had a fully upgraded house near Morthal, One day I came home and my bard was naked and dead, next to the main table. She seems to be permanently dead. I laid her in my bed, and she has not moved. It has been weeks in game. When I speak to the steward I cannot purchase another bard. Oh well her voice was shrill anyway.
Possible Glitch[edit]
I may be missing something (never married anyone so I don't know if options change then) but once I made Lydia a steward of my home, she still has the default dialogue options she had before along with the new steward options. Does anyone else have this problem after making a housecarl into a steward? Does marrying them cause the housecarl dialogues to disappear? The reason I think this is a glitch is that it kind of breaks immersion when Lydia still calls me her Thane despite us being in Falkreath and not a Thane there along with still having the options to ask her what being a Thane means. It also really interferes with her steward duties as now the steward options are mashed up with housecarl dialogue so that it goes: Steward, housecarl, steward, housecarl, etc. Though it may just be lazy programming. WolfMaster91 (talk) 20:02, 14 September 2012 (GMT)
- It seems to me that making Lydia the steward of a home in a different hold doesn't change the fact that the Jarl of Whiterun made you a Thane and assigned Lydia to be your housecarl. That is, it doesn't seem inappropriate for her to continue to call you "my thane" or continue to have her Thane/Housecarl dialogue. Just my opinion. But if it bothers you, you could always load a previous save and choose a different steward for your new home. Username12345 (talk) 04:55, 16 September 2012 (GMT)

- Yes, but don't you think it should? Technically she is no longer a housecarl because she is now a steward (Yes the Jarl would have more authority over what she is, but it is doubtful that any Jarl would care enough to say anything). Basically they are upgraded and don't really need to perform housecarl duties anymore. Perhaps we will just have to wait until Hearthfire is released on the PC and people can look at the coding for it to see if any of the variables of a follower is changed when they become a steward that would overwrite the housecarl status. - I don't know. I'm certainly not saying you're wrong about this. Just that in my opinion, being a steward in Falkreath doesn't mean she can't be the housecarl of the Thane of Whiterun too, because she is serving the same person in both holds. I guess the fact that she no longer lives in the Thane's house in Whiterun could mean you're right, that she can no longer be considered a housecarl. My knowledge of the laws and customs of Skyrim regarding housecarls and stewards is pretty limited, if they have even been fleshed out by the game designers. Here's a question: if you recruit Lydia as a Blade, does she continue to have housecarl dialogue? And do you think being a Blade means she can't still be a housecarl? - I don't know about the housecarl options for Blades as I've never inducted a housecarl into the Blades before. But what I do know is the oath that all Blades take:
- "Do you wish to become a Blade?"
- "I do."
- "Are you willing to trade away all claims and titles of your former life? To live here and devote yourself to protecting Tamriel from danger?"
- "I do."
- This means that she is no longer a housecarl, at least she shouldn't be as she gave up any title she may have held before joining the Blades. WolfMaster91 (talk) 22:04, 17 September 2012 (GMT)

- Fair enough. Still it would be interesting to know whether a housecarl-Blade still has housecarl dialogue. So anyone who might be reading this who has recruited a housecarl to be a Blade, please speak up. And as you said, checking the code when the PC Hearthfire comes out could give us some additional insight. Username12345 (talk) 00:38, 18 September 2012 (GMT)

New Carriage Drivers[edit]
I've built my home in Falkreath (just the starter house and then the main hall, no wings) and the stable outside, and I've waited about a week and looked around the the town of Falkreath, but I can't find the carriage driver who is supposed to be available (Gunjar?). Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks. Username12345 (talk) 04:59, 16 September 2012 (GMT)
- Nevermind. I figured it out. For anyone else who was wondering, you have to hire a steward (choose one of your followers) for your house, and then ask your steward to hire a carriage driver. Username12345 (talk) 07:28, 16 September 2012 (GMT)
