Getting stuck on "Place the warped soul gem into a final Convector"

I discovered the famous bug for part 3. I will explain the quest stages, the bug and how to complete the quest. This works for PC.

Stages:

Stage 1: Place the soul gem. Stage 2: Heat the soul gem. Stage 3: Retrieve the soul gem.

Bug:

Dual casting and augmented flames perk, tested and absolutely nothing to do with this bug. After you heat the soul gem, the stage 2 completes. Stage 3 starts and after less than a second completes and starts the stage 1 for the next convector. The bug only occur if the soul gem is still inside the convector and stage 3 completes.

Solution:

After you heat the soul gem, you need to access the convector quickly and retrieve the soul gem only after stage 3 starts and is not completed. If the gem in still inside the convector and you notice the stage 3 completed (or further into the stages) the quest will not be able to go further and complete. Do Convectors Change in Any Way?

Arniel said that heating the warped soul gem inside a dwarven convector would destroy the convector, but the convector is still there and still seems to work for storage. Is this purely a story "destruction", as in the convector will no longer work as a convector? Or do the convectors get changed in some subtle way?104.15.180.18 20:05, 11 November 2017 (UTC)

Cannot Collect Warped Soul Gem after Experiment

Is it worth noting that the Warped Soul Gem cannot be collected after Arniel Gane completes his experiment, even though the text to Take an object is displayed? And is this how it worked for everyone else or did I hit a glitch?104.15.180.18 21:37, 11 November 2017 (UTC)

Arniel Stuck Outside - Bug

During or after the Containment quest, Arniel got stuck outside above the cliffs (south of the College and east of the Frozen Hearth). This might have been the result of fighting the magical anomalies in that quest or later when on the bridge back to the college where he could fall off the bridge to the land below. Whatever the cause, he will literally stay out there the entire time of Arniel's Endeavor all the way up to the end of part four. He goes through all the dialog as normal (even for the end of part four, despite not being in the room for the test). However, when it came to actually striking the gem he just stopped and did nothing. I got the quest to complete by selecting him and running "moveto player" while I was in the correct location. He then continues the dialog as usual and strikes the gem, ultimately ending the quest as usual. --76.167.97.203 23:07, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
