Tournament of the Heart[edit]

During the Order of the Albatross task, you will need to find a key to the chapel catacombs. Isobel suggests you check out the Knights Quarters in the castle. Nilsmon can be found in the Knight Commander's office and is a possible source of a key:

"Oh hello! Do you need an appointment to meet with the commander?
She's a very busy woman. I should be able to find room in her schedule … how does next month sound?"
Actually, I need a key to the catacombs. Do you have one?
"No, I'm sorry, that's not something I can give … wait.
I take it back. I'll give you all the keys you want. Just … do me one small favor."
What's the favor?
"Give this note to Lady Aurelia. Discreetly. It's my latest poetic offering, a treatise on her virtue.
It's crucial that you do not reveal who it's from. One day, I shall reveal myself as The Author. And she will finally see true love!"
I'll … go deliver the poem then. (You are given the poem.)
I'm not sure I'm comfortable with this. Let me think about it. (Ends Conversation)

If you decided to give the poem to Aurelia you will be handed Ode to the Nose of a Woman:

"Remember, you must be discreet. It would be scandalous if she were to be seen taking secret missives from secret lovers.
Scandal!"

When you hand the poem over to Aurelia, she will go along with it, if only for the sake of assisting Isobel with winning the Tourney. Afterwards, you can head back to Nilsmon so he can fulfill his end of the bargain:

"I saw you talking to her. Isn't her voice beautiful? Like a gentle brook burbling through a forest glade. Ahem. Sorry.
Did you give her the note? How did she react?"
I gave her the poem. She blushed and said she would read it later.
"Ah! Gentle dove. She is an Aedra, come to Nirn. Her beauty is too much for we poor fools. I fancy myself a rather decent poet, you know. One day … one day ….
Wait. I was supposed to do something for you, wasn't I?"
I need the key to the catacombs.
"Yes, of course! Here you go. I shall remember your service to true love. Perhaps with a line in the epic romance I've been writing.
The heroine is named … Laurelia. Once it's completed, I'll have a bard perform it. And you shall be invited!"
Great. Thanks for the key.

Speaking with him again afterwards:

"I cannot compromise my anonymity, lest my lady be overcome with emotion.
It's too soon. Too soon, Nilsmon."

If you talk to him again after obtaining the key by different means:

"Eyes as blue as bugloss … hmm, what rhymes with bugloss?"

A Mother's Request[edit]

Later on, Isobel will receive a request from Knight Commander Jourvel who wants you to find her daughter, Aurelia. Aurelia left a letter for her mother, saying she needed to fix what had happened after Kiv stole the Veloise Signet Ring. Your only lead is Nilsmon and his bad poetry. You eventually track him down in Gonafalon Bay, sad and drunk:

"Oh, it's Isobel's friend. Hullo friend, hullo Isobel.
If you're looking for her, Aurelia is Gonfalon Bay … I mean, very much gone away."
She's gone? Do you know where she went?
"Oh, away. On a ship. You know. Woosh. How can she like that Captain Marso so much?
He just has a boat. He doesn't even write poetry!"
Focus, Nilsmon. Where was Captain Marso going?
"So many questions! I can't keep up with the four of you. I don't know where their ship went.
Ask a shipping perk. No, snipper clerk. Shipping. Clerk. Talk to them."
We will. Why don't you get some sleep, Nilsmon?

Afterwards:

Isobel Veloise: "Let's see if we can find a shipping clerk, my friend. They're back across the bridge, on the right."
Isobel Veloise: "Nilsmon, when you wake up go back to Castle Navire. And Stendarr's breath, take a bath! Woof."
<Nilsmon lies down.>
Nilsmon Booklover: "A knight does not nap when love is unrequited! No … wait. Sleep is good."

Talking to him again:

"Bye bye. I … I'm a just take a nap here."

Bugs[edit]

  • Depending on the play through, (?)the voice over does not match the screen text. He could greet you with "Eyes as blue as bugloss … hmm, what rhymes with bugloss?" And instead of "I saw you talking to her..." the audio of "Remember, you must be discreet..." will play.
  • The letter "Ode to the nose of a woman" disappears after delivering it. Remember to read it as soon as you get it, otherwise you won't have it in your collection.
