Quest-Related Events

Before the quest, he will be cooking:

"Just smell that. Sizzling red meat. Real Nord food!"

During the quest, he will scoff about herbs:

"Herbs. Who needs them? Fancy folk, that's who."

After speaking to Berj, you may choose to hear him out on his pitch on how bear steaks are made:

"You look like you need a bear steak. Charred on the outside, bloody in the middle!"

Berj sent me over. He wants me to decide what to serve at the party.

"Berj and the workers want meat! Seared, salted, and still bleeding! I ask you, what goes better with a cask of mead than a good bear steak? Nothing, that's what!
Heggvir probably wants to make that fancy goat stew of hers. She uses herbs."

Do you have bear steaks?

"That's where you come in. You look like you could carve up a bear.
Go lure Old Ironclaw from his cave. Just toss these leftovers Heggvir made out front. It should attract the bear. Goodness knows no Nord will eat the stuff."

I'll go get some bear steaks.

"That old bear should be in his lair this time of the day. It's north and west from here.
Just drop that old lunch on the rock in front of the cave. The smell should lure Old Ironclaw out and you can take care of him."

You can back out if you haven't decided who to choose:

I need to think about it before I decide.

"Well, don't take all day. There's a lot of steaks that need to be seared and lots of hungry people to feed. And they're hungry for real food!"

Talking to him immediately again after picking him:

"My mouth is watering just thinking about a nice juicy bear steak [sic]"

When returning to him with the bear steaks, he will send you to Ralduf to bring mead to the party:

"Wonderful. These bear steaks will feed a lot of people. Did Old Ironclaw give you any trouble?"

No trouble at all.

"Well done, friend! I mean rare! Good and rare! I'll start searing these steaks right away.
You know what goes good with bear steak? Mead! And Berj needs a few more barrels. Go see Ralduf Wolf-Kin at the storehouse. Get his key and get the mead!"

I'll go find Ralduf.

Talking to him again at this point:

"Herbs. Who needs them? Fancy folk, that's who."

If you choose to go with Heggvir:

"Goat stew! You have to use a spoon or a fork to eat it. What kind of meal is that?"

Kalogar later dies during the riekling attack.
