The High Temple of Ash'uhn

The High Temple of Ash'uhn is large temple located in the far northeast corner of Mephala's realm. The temple is inaccessible unless you're doing the quest The High Temple.

Exterior[edit]

  • The exterior is located at coordinates: ODDDesert01 25,19
  • The map marker is located outside the main temple.

Zone 1: High Temple of Ash'uhn[edit]

This level is small and easy to navigate. As long as you don't fall off the bridge, you'll be fine here.

Zone 2: High Temple of Ash'uhn[edit]

Like the previous level, this one is small and devoid of monsters or traps. You need to keep an eye out for a large stone tablet in a big room; activate the tablet (and read it, if you care to), then proceed onward. You also need to find two sarcophagi, which hold eyestones - you need these to gain access to the Pharaoh's tomb, deeper in the temple.

Zone 3: High Temple of Ash'uhn[edit]

This is the same as the previous levels - no monsters, no traps. As with the second zone, you'll need to find the tablet (in the throne room) and a pair of eyestones. After you activate the tablet here, you'll be attacked by a ghoul.

Zone 4: High Temple of Ash'uhn[edit]

From Level 3, you'll be teleported to one end of this level. You'll come to a locked gate with a statue in front of it; there's a hole in the base, which requires one of the Eyestones you found earlier. Head into the next room, which has a large tablet in an arch, and you'll be attacked by a trio of ghouls.

There are two exits from this room - each leads to a dead-end passage with a teleporter. The one on the left leads to an empty tomb (4A); the one on the right leads to another tomb (4B), but this one has some loot in an open coffin - a few flawless topaz, a repair hammer, and three strong potions of sorcery. Both tombs have teleporters that lead back to this level, so don't worry about getting stuck.

The path out of this level is hidden behind a moveable door in the center of the opposite wall. Go up a ramp, and you'll come to a wide passage lined with more of the tiles with circular designs. THIS PASSAGE IS TRAPPED. The tiles on the floor have fire traps, but some are safe. In order to traverse it without being turned to a crisp, follow this path: The first one on the left side; go diagonally ahead, then diagonally back to the left side, straight two more tiles, then diagonally ahead to the right. This passage will then lead to Zone 5.

Zone 5: High Temple of Ash'uhn[edit]

When you enter this level, go straight down the passage. You'll encounter a ghoul along the way, before coming to a wider passage to the right. This leads to a room with the durzog and three ghouls, but be careful - just before the room, in a space lined with four pillars, is a falling spike trap. There's nothing useful in the room, so you can avoid it and keep going; you'll eventually end up at a wide space further up (altitude-wise), with another ghoul and durzog guarding the exit. Kill them and continue on to Zone 6.

Zone 6: High Temple of Ash'uhn[edit]

The passage leads down into a large room with one ghoul and one grave durzog. The wide passage beyond is lined with pillars down the middle, a wall with carvings at the end, and designs along the walls with small niches. These are designed for the Eyestones you found earlier. You must have eight - if you haven't found them all, you can go back to previous zones to look for them. Once you've placed all eight, the floor at the end of the hall will disappear, revealing a stairway. This leads to a passage lined with small tombs; the coffins hold nothing of interest besides a pair of death coins in each. The passage continues on to Zone 7.

Zone 7: High Temple of Ash'uhn[edit]

After entering this level, cross the bridge to the large statue of Mephala. Be careful! When you step off the end of the bridge, you'll trigger a cutscene (see The High Temple), whereupon the bridge behind you will disappear and a pile of rocks will fall from above. If you survive, proceed along the path to the next zone.

Zone 8: High Temple of Ash'uhn[edit]

The passage here leads down around the outside of a cavern to a platform. There are dozens of scrolls on the altars here, as well as a dais at the end of the platform. When you approach the dais, High Priest Delosi will appear on the island in the middle of the cave and attack.

Once you defeat him, a gate leading to his sanctuary (Zone 9) will appear, and a door will rise from the dais. In order to activate the door, you'll need Delosi's blood. Drip some on the tablet; when it asks which garment Ayhamli wore, the correct answer is "the lion one".

Zone 9: Insignificant Cave (High Temple of Ash'uhn)[edit]

This is Delosi's secret cave, which is accessible from the outside world (even if you're not doing the quest) as well as through a portal in the High Temple. It consists of a large temple room with one wall broken down, but there's no exit. In order to leave, you must activate the cauldron; when prompted, put some of the giant worm's blood in it, then fill a bottle with the resulting mixture. Go to the rock face and look up - you'll see a rock you can activate. Apply the explosive potion here and run away; it will explode a few seconds later, revealing a tunnel out.
