Walkthrough

This quest takes place after you are sent to Mephala's realm. When you exit the cave, you'll find a man named Monag standing around nearby smoking a pipe. If you approach him and talk to him, he'll say he can get you some help. This is a lie - he'll just take you to a nearby ruined tower, where he and some friends will jump you. On the bright side, you'll find the Assassin that you met earlier, now tied up (Ocato sent him through the gate before you). Free him, and he'll find a map on Monag's body that leads to a buried treasure.

At the spot indicated, you'll find a shovel. Pick it up and activate the ground repeatedly (it takes about a dozen tries); eventually you'll uncover a trap door leading to an underground well.

Or, if you've already done this, you can ignore the assassin; he'll run off, and the quest will complete anyway.

35		It seems that I've been transported into Mephala's realm by Ocato. Unintentionally, because actually he wanted to summon Mephala, the Lord of Spiders. But it looks like he was unsuccessful before. Because I have met the assassin who formerly wanted to stab Helgarth in the manor. He begged me not to let him return alone. He probably wouldn't survive here for long.
55		This guy has apparently found a map. I'll follow him. Let's see where it leads us.
65		This guy wants me to dig a hole. I need a shovel.
80	Finishes quest	It seems that the guy is making me responsible for his problems. Pah, I'm not dependent on him. Hey, wait! What is a note doing there on the box?
200	Finishes quest	Player refuses to follow; assassin runs away.
210	Finishes quest	Help this assassin dig? Never. But that is the only person I know here in Mephala's realm.

• The following empty quest stages were omitted from the table: 15, 25, 30, 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, 75.

Notes

• Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
• Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
• If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
• It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ODDDesertMeuchlerQuest stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
