Invisibility and Scouting[edit]

Is it not recommended to use an invisibility potion when performing any action other than scouting type maneuvers. For any activity that will require an action that will involve an outside object (door, chest, pocket, etc..), the spell, scroll, or potion of chameleon should be used in place of invisibility. The invisibility potion will help the player sneak up to Sottilde, but the picking pocket will be based on sneak. Any action cancels invisibility; only chameleon continues for full duration regardless of player's actions. — Unsigned comment by 67.101.107.105 (talk)

Codebook Bug[edit]

There is a bug I have experienced on the Xbox version where the codebook is not in Sotilde's inventory... Therefore causing it to be impossible to complete the quest. — Unsigned comment by 70.67.135.244 (talk) on 24 december 2010

I experienced the same (or a similar thing). I have the GOTY edition, but am playing on a PC. For me, Sottilde does not have the book in her inventory, so I cannot pickpocket it, BUT it is there if I kill her. I am currently testing if I can just attack her (or taunt/frenzy her into attacking) and then calm her and have the book in her inventory. 69.117.87.68 01:33, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
Finished testing using cheats (Set Illusion and Speechcraft to 500; Frenzy Humanoid does not seem to work on Sottilde). She does not have the code book until she is dead. Sottilde, in fact, has less items to pickpocket after having attacked you (loses her clothers and some of the other weapons and arrows she was holding). 69.117.87.68 02:01, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
That is odd, considering there are no scripts mentioning the book, and neither the book nor Sottilde have a script associated with them. --Brf 12:35, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
My character is a member of the Fighter's Guild and the Thieves Guild, so Sottilde would not give me the book no matter what I tried -- either raising her disposition or taunting her excessively. Since I had her disposition at both extremes (100 and 0) and she would not give me the code book, I am editing the article accordingly. Marlos 13:14, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure that what appears in the pickpocket inventory is based on your sneak skill. The higher the sneak skill, the move valuable the loot that will appear. If you try to pickpocket her multiple times but don't take anything, it will probably appear eventually. — Unsigned comment by 66.194.178.66 (talk) at 18:11 on 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Another way to pickpocket the book with low Sneak level[edit]

I casted a command humanoid on the girl, lured her out of the building where there are a lot less people to see me and picked her pocket. Looks like commanded characters don't mind if you loot their pockets, but you still need multiple tries to actually take the book. — Unsigned comment by 84.2.160.171 (talk) at 00:27 on 22 March 2015
