Pro-Dunmer Revision[edit]

The recent edit inserted a very heavy pro-Dunmer version of events that is not reflected in the sources. The previous version claimed that the Dunmer won this war, and that the Potentate essentially surrendered. That is inaccurate. Just from reading 2920 it is clear that the treaty in question was to be one that was beneficial to the Empire. 2920 literally claims that the treaty was the exact same one that Vivec and Reman III had agreed to, and not some last minute one to end the war while the Potentate was seizing power:

"You intend to honor the Emperor's treaty?"

"I intend to do everything as the Emperor," said the Potentate.

As it is now, the current version does not reflect bias in any direction, and merely states facts. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 14:22, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

If you had read the edit before I even touched anything, the only bits that I actually added to the article were that the war ended in a DE-FACTO (defined as "in fact, or in effect, whether by right or not.") victory for Morrowind - which is unbiased and very literal historical fact. The Empire invaded Morrowind with the intent to conquer it. Morrowind didn't want to join the Empire, and fought back. The war ends when a treaty is signed that prompts the Empire to cease hostilities and leave Morrowind, resulting in the Imperials not attaining their goal, and the Dunmer attaining their goal. That's a de facto victory. It's not a bias to point out one of the few times in TES history that the Empire did not get their way. Furthermore, you've also removed the fact that Emperor Reman III was assassinated by the Morag Tong after sacking the Fortress of Black Gate. There was absolutely no reason for this, as both are hard historical facts well documented in the very source you're using to defend your edit. The Potentate was also quite literally seizing the power he'd just been given as acting Emperor, and stating such isn't a bias. Versidue-Shaie would continue to try and consolidate his power for the next 300+ years, founding the Fighters Guild in 2E 320 after vassals across Tamriel rebelled against his rule and forcing him to crush them and disband their armies in order to keep his control of the Empire (noted extensively in History of the Fighters Guild). "I intend to do everything as the Emperor," is also an extremely vague remark that doesn't even begin to suggest that he's going to honor the original treaty, merely that he intends to do everything going forward with the authority of an Emperor. If you're so opposed to simply stating that the war was a de facto victory for Morrowind, at least revert it to the edit that preceded mine, because even that was more accurate and contained more information for readers to learn from than the current edit.(talk) 15:03, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
