Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Following the events of A Troublesome Orc, Nalvs Andolin will ask you to journey to the Shrine of Forgiveness. His reasons for doing so differ depending on the outcome of the previous quest - if you killed Garash gro-Vivec or convinced him to turn aside from his faith, then Nalvs feels you should make a show of penance for the action, for the benefit of onlookers. If you encouraged Garash in his idolation of Vivec, then Nalvs will simply send you there out of doubt for your commitment to the Temple (specifically, his).

Seeking the Shrine[edit]

The Shrine of Forgiveness is at the Monastery of St. Aralor, in Menaan. You can reach Menaan via silt strider. If walking, leave Andothren via the eastern gate, and follow the cobbled road south until you can turn off onto the (similarly cobbled) branch going west. From Menaan, follow the dirt path leading roughly north along the shores of a lake, until you reach the monastery.

You can proceed straight to the Penitent's Cavern, directly opposite the entrance, if you wish. You can also optionally speak to Dram Marvos at the very top of the monastery. Ask him about the Shrine of Forgiveness, and he will provide instructions. You need to enter the Penitent's Cavern, retrieve the Penitent's Ring, and then find the shrine within the caverns, where you will demonstrate repentance.

Enter the Penitent's Cavern, and find Llaros Sadas in a small cave chamber on the eastern side. If asked about the Penitent's Ring he will point you to the table next to him. Take the ring, and then descend the wooden stairs to the worn inscription at the bottom of the cave. Activate the inscription, equip the ring, and use its effect in the magic menu. A door will open in the wall, and you can then access the Shrine of Forgiveness itself. Activate it.

Once you have received the shrine's blessing, you can return the ring to Dram Marvos at the top of the monastery. It's time to return to Nalvs.

The Return to Andothren[edit]

On returning to the Andothren Temple, Nalvs will reveal a hitherto unmentioned part of your penitence - the need to shed your worldly possessions.

"After Aralor emerged from the caverns, he gave away his worldly things and set out to right the wrongs he caused in his lust for fortune. As the Saint did, so should you. You must make a donation to support the charitable mission of our Temple here in Andothren. Only then will I consider your pilgrimage completed."

You can leave a donation in the Temple Donation Box, immediately opposite Nalvs. Leaving one gold only will result in Nalvs expelling you from the Temple. Otherwise, return to Nalvs once you have left a suitable amount - two gold is enough, although Nalvs will not be happy about it. If you leave enough of a donation, he will reward you with a copy of The Pig Children, and the promise of blessings to come.

Notes[edit]

  • When asking for the donation, Nalvs will assess your wealth based on your clothing and the amount of gold in your possession, affecting what he says, and how much he expects before rewarding you.
  • The maximum amount of gold Nalvs will accept appears to be 30,000.
