A good way to find the ring if it's rolled away is to stand at location C, drop a cheap ring, then follow it to where it stops rolling. Ring of Destruction should be close by.

Did a bunch of research ingame on this using cheap rings, bottles...ect And found that generally a good 70-80% of the time the ring or any thing that rolls will go to the lowest point, if you follow a straight line from the crevice to behind you it leads to 2 deep rocks which are the lowest common point the ring will be around here if not i noticed that a good amount of the time if it does go a more random route it will not travel far up higher points along and around the straight line, so look on the top of higher points in the lake bottom on or around the line from the crevice to the 2 lowest point rocks.

I also came across the ring and the ale bottle floating on the surface of the lake above the clams that are on the bottom of the lake to the NNE of the spot where the ring starts out. I only noticed the floating bottle of ale at first, but when i picked it up, the ring of destruction was floating next to it.
