Hey everyone! Don't mean to come in and crash your thread, but I'm one of the creators of Roll20 and I saw in our logs some traffic coming from here so I dropped in to see what was going on. Just wanted to say that this is exactly the reason we are building it in the first place: helping people get together to do some gaming! :-).

Also, for rolls, see the Roll Reference: help (dot) roll20 (dot) net/dice-rolling-reference/ (won't let me post the actual link cause I'm a newbie; it also includes interactive examples so you can test out rolls using the same dice rolling engine built in to Roll20).

And once the beta starts let me know if you're having any trouble at all getting it to do what you need for your game!

Thanks,

Riley

Hey, Riley, after we get the Invitation Codes, are we allowed to make our own art and music for the game?

No, I can't say I do.

Also, We must get Drake to pay $500 so that he can record the special Tutorial with the dev team on how to use it.

We're getting a bit off-topic here guys, but I can understand the excitement!

Anyways, I think I'll wait for a few more people to join to get the group on and have an "educational period" where we go over making characters and the rules.

Blessed Umberlee... it's from the classic 1930s film, Freaks. There's a famous scene in which a vain and beautiful goldigger, recently married to a wealthy circus midget, is inducting into his circle of friends by a gang of circus freaks.

Im definitely keen.

I own the 3 main books of 2e, so that's not a problem, I also have all the needed dice, if I need them for anything.

You're a bloody legend Kestral, I've been hoping for something like this!

Only problems that may crop up, is timezones of course. I'm from New Zealand, so that might be a little bit of a problem, I'm not sure.

Sorry for the delayed reply.

You can upload any art that you want just by dragging and dropping. So if you already have a collection of Elder Scrolls artwork you can certainly make use of it. Right now we are only supporting SoundCloud music, though, although honestly I've been using it and there is a lot of great orchestral and that sort of thing on there that is perfect for background music for fantasy-themed games.

Hope that helps!

Well, I will join.

As long as there are no system requirements or installations, I'll join as an archer.

Also, Riley, you should join us!

This might be hillarious, having you play with us as well.

EDIT: Also, I just had an idea.

Is it possible to have a Hunger Games style fight in the Roll20?

Oh, also, do you have templates for graphic related stuff, like tilesets, animations, etc.?

Because I mess around with Pixel Art alot, so I thought that I might be able to make a nice 8-bit world tileset for use for map makers.

If you mean do we have any guidelines to use when creating that? Not really. The only thing (I think) you'd need to know is just that at the default zoom level of 100% 70 pixels = 1 square which is "5 feet". So if you make a tileset based around 70-pixel squares it should look great! We don't have any way of doing animations right now but may support animated GIFs or something in the future.

And we are planning on opening up a Marketplace where folks (like you!) can share art assets (tokens, tilesets, etc.) with the community, both for free and commercially if you want to go that route. We're hoping to have it open in August for the public launch. So I'm sure any contributions you want to make would be greatly appreciated by everyone! Drop me a line at riley (at) roll20 (dot) net if you have any more questions about that.

I'd be interested in playing, but I would need to read up on the rules and such. Does anyone have a link to the ruleset? I'm already good at playing standard RPing on another forum, so I'd like to find a group to play with so that I could try some new ideas.
