Today, I was on my way to fight a ghostly mudcrab for a quest I'm doing. When I come across one of those places where the giants hang out. Suddenly I see a group of hostiles, at first I thought they were bandits, then they got closer and started shooting spells at me and I saw they were Thalmor Justicars. I was pretty confused, as I was actually planning on joining the Legion and haven't killed any Thalmor or helped the Stormcloaks in any way, so I was like, 'Why the hell are they attacking ME?! What did I do?" After killing all of them, turns out one of them had an execution order for me saying I was "An enemy to the Thalmor," and that I've, "Actively disrupted their activities and caused great harm," and I was to be, "Destroyed with extreme hatred," Guess who'll be joining the Stormcloaks now?

Not much of a story but a neat little find for new starters, I was exiting bleak falls past the shack with the old lady in it and ran into two vampires, during the fight I retreated to the waterfall edge near the cabin, if you scale the edge and keep an eye out under the cliff tops you can see a skeleton of an animal and in its ribs lays a flawless emerald! FIND $$$!

I was just about to leave a dungeon I just cleared with my two followers, Aranea and Vigilance the dog, when Aranea got [&@%!] off out of no where, summoned an atronach and fired vigilance with lightning. What a [&@%!] -o-

(This is something I've wanted to try out. In this topic, write a journal about what you've done in Skyrim today. There's just a catch though; write it from the viewpoint of your own character, as if it were them writing the journal.
I made this instead of posting in the 'Skyrim Short Stories' thread because I felt this is a different enough method to warrant another topic. If not, go ahead and lock. I'll understand :)
Also, beware of spoilers, readers and posters. )

(I'll start with a journal entry from my main character, my Wood Elf named Tycane.)

8th of Heartfire

I will never really get used to the creatures creeping up on me and J'zargo when we're out in the fjords. They're nowhere as bad as the creatures from Morrowind, but that doesn't mean that we have to fight for our lives when we least expect it. If some of the Stormcloaks are so thankful for my help in the war, the least one of them could do is follow me and J'zargo around and lend a helping hand once in a while!

Then again, perhaps that isn't the best idea. I seem to attract dragons like a magnet. J'zargo and Erik were the only people willing to follow me despite the whole dragon problem, and now they're Blades because of it. I sort of envy them, sometimes. When they kill a dragon, it's like a moment of triumph, where the knight has slain the monster and claimed victory.

When I kill a dragon, I feel like I've killed a brother. And this is likely somewhat correct. With my soul being that of a dragon, I'm more akin to these creatures than I care to be. With every strike on them, I can feel their hatred towards me and what I am. I am Dovahkiin, both mortal and dragon. They hate me for daring to fight them. They see me as an abomination, not worthy of the gifts of the Dovh. Only Odahviing seems to respect me for what I am; it's very comforting to have him at my back, regardless of what the Blades think.

Even though it pains me to kill them a times, there is a certain peace I feel a while after absorbing a soul. I can feel the content of the dragons being at peace within me. It's empowering to know that I have the souls of nearly one hundred dragons behind my Thu'um.

But enough of all this serious writing. A bard can't be sullen all the time! J'zargo is boasting that he can hold his drink better than I, but I intend to prove him wrong!

The Sleeping Giant Inn, Riverwood, Whiterun Hold, Skyrim.

So. I woke to find myself jolting along a rough track in the back of a cart, my hands tied, the cold biting at me through a new set of pathetic rags, a prisoner again. I thought perhaps that after everything i'd gone through, that i might i'd be allowed to rest, to live, to love, to be a father, to grow old and die, that it was over finally and i was just another man on the great wheel of time.

But here i am, my voice has changed again, so has my face, hard to remember what it was like before, it's like everything else, like trying to see though a fog, but this beard is new, and these scars. Is there, was there ever really a "me" ? An original, before all this began ? Was i a child once ? I've been so many people now, i can't remember.

It's hard to say how i feel, ancient, wise, tired, and yet, i feel new strength and direction flowing into me at every moment, like a tapestry, forming from bright new threads, yet woven together to make a pattern as old as the gods.

The gods. They have a lot to answer for.

Soon i'll forget again, have only the vague memory of a life before, a presence with no substance, none of it's smiles or wounds left clear to me. What is this, the fourth ? The fifth ? What's a man to do when he has no past, the only direction is forward.

Turdas, 13th of Suns Dusk, 4E 201

By the Gods it's cold up here. As I write this I am looking over a cliff face and the word wall at Skyborn Altar lies directly behind me. To my west is the Labrynthian and just behind a mountain a bit further to the north lies Morthal. I met a theif on my way here, she was a friendly sort, apparently she had been very lucky recently (Nocturnals work?). Said something to the effect of 'Good to see you sister, here is your payment as promised.' Then off she went. I was a little confused by this exchange as I wasn't aware a promise had been made. I put a dagger in her back for her troubles anyway, needless to say her lucky streak had ended. Cheers for the 500 Septims, see you in the void.

I then went back to the task at hand. Climbed the rest of the mountain (went the back way so as I could surprise the dragon) and eventually got to a cliff face. And there it was, the Green Blood Dragon sitting right on top of the word wall. So how to kill this thing? Easy, jump on its back and let your daggers do their magic. Turns out dragons are as vulnerable to getting stabbed in the back as humans and elves. So I absorbed it's soul, learnt the word off the wall and now here I sit, it's quite pristine really, but my blades thirst for more blood so I must be off. Maybe there'll be someone in Morthal who's blood my blade can drink.

As I was traversing Blackreach yesterday, I came upon a section of the zone that was webbed off by the spiders that inhabited it. I was aghast at first, no mention of Frostbite Spiders were in the wiki article, but I sighed, and turned around, not wanting to deal with them at all. But then, something terrible, perhaps amazing happened. I turned around again, and I saw Frostbite Spiders jumping from the cliff that was apart of their hangout, to their deaths! I was delighted and also horrified at the audacity of their AI. I will never sleep comfortably in a stranger's bed in the wilderness for fear of waking up to a legion of Frostbite Spiders.

From the journal of Tycane Alturas, Minstrel Extraordinaire

12th of Heartfire, 4E 201

I love the cold. Other wood elf brothers I've met in Skyrim find me strange for the fact, but I can't help but love it.

Sure, it gets rather uncomfortable in certain places; almost deathly so on the throat of the world; but at places like the snowy lands north of Riverwood, the climate just seems absolutely perfect. The snow falls and makes a smooth, beautiful terrain that is simply fascinating to behold. And when the Northern Lights show, I behold some of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen.

J'zargo can't stand it, most of the time. Of course he can't, he's from Elsewyr, while I spent most of my early life in Daggerfall. I know he enjoys the adventuring, but he's always asking when we're going to set camp, or light a torch. I suppose that's why he's the one who carries the torch at night.

But enough talk about the cold, I suppose. The bards are still writing more songs about me; they even wrote one about that whole incident in Irkngthand, calling it 'The Raven Strikes'. I do like the nickname they gave me. 'The Raven' fits well with my usual line of work; stealing from the rich, giving to the poor. And I suppose the black armor I wear constantly makes me look the part. Now, if only we could get J'zargo a nickname.

Not to mention that the post is FULL of spoilers. Use spoiler tags, please.

From the journal of Saixer Arainai

Words cannot express how much I wish Morrowind hadn't been practically flooded with lava. I despise this place. So few Dunmeri except in places like Windhelm and Riften. All of these Nords believe their problems can only be solved with a heavy blunt object to the head.

My ancestors would have spat on this place had they ever left wonderful Morrowind. This place is cold, inhospitable, and barely even civilized. My only comforts here are Jenassa at my side, and the joy of killing some of these idiots for the Dark Brotherhood. I have to give the Nords credit for something; when I walk into a town and people scream in fear of my vampirism, the guards put up a damned good fight.

The only person I've fought so far to a stalemate here, however, was not even a Nord. A woodelf member of the Stormcloaks, by the name of Tycane, also known as 'Dragonborn', 'Stormblade', 'Dovahkiin', who met me in battle and dispatched me after a long battle. My one remaining eye is a testament to his skill.

Regardless. A descendant of Rylvyr Arainai does not take defeat lightly. After training, I will meet him again.

And I will kill him.

I was in Riften to fence some jewelry, when I encountered a thief fleeing some guards. While this isn't uncommon in Riften, the thief did something I had never seen before; he ran into someone's house. Curious to see what would happen, I followed he and the guards in to the manor. The guards dispatched of him easily in the house, but afterwards... they just hung around! The 6 or so guards decided to make themselves at home and some sat down, some ate, some drank mead... all in a strangers house. I guess they felt they deserved a break after chasing down their man. :)

Alexei Jackson's Jounral Fredas, 20th Last Seed 4E 201

Mother always told me not to talk to strangers. I may be 30 years old, but I still remember every word of her advice. Not a word she uttered was truer then today.

I approached a large mountain, west of Riften, not far from the Cyrodiil border. On the horizon stood a man dressed in red rags, looking distressed. My caring nature was to be the death of me once again.

He beckoned me over, asking for my help. The man, by the name of Tevlor, told me he was due at a nearby Fort but was worried that the nearby Sabre Cats would harm him. He asked I escort him to the place, and I obliged.

It was a natural five minute conversation, we spoke about home and our families. Then, we arrived.

I was walking through the entrance to the Fort, when I noticed he had dropped behind me. I turned, to seek him, when I noticed a circle of bandits around me. Tevlor apologised for his deceit, before ordering his friends to attack.

And I sit writing this in the Silver Blood Inn, Markarth. Tevlor and his friends are sat at the bottom of Lake Geire.

While on a solo hike through the mountains, I saw a ruin up the mountain. Figuring I should be cautious as i had no backup, i sneak up to investigate. notice a pressure plate, I jump over it. Of course the jumping has cause a Draugr Deathlord to notice me. Having never fought a deathlord before i use my most powerful attack then realizing it did zilch while the deathlord almost killed me, i ran screaming for my life. However while i was busy tactically withdrawing, i forgot about the trap. I of course run over the pressure plate, hear the click, then see the Deathlord's corpse(do the undead have corpses?) fly off into the valley below. it was beautiful.

my other fav story involved my first random encounter dragon. while in town shopping and looking for work a dragon attacks. i heroically defeat it, assisted by the local guards and a mage whom i didn't know was there. during the chaos of battle i accidentally killed a dog (might have been a chicken). the reasonable guards of course arrest the hero of the town for the murder of a child's dog. after paying the fine (of around 50 gold) i return to take my loot from the dragon. only to find a band of merc's out to kill me for killing the dog. after killing them i head home to stash my new stuff. after i stash my loot i head out again, then i am attacked by the dark brotherhood, hired to kill me for killing the merc's sent to get revenge for me killing a dog accidentally while saving the town from a dragon. i never went back to that town again.

Snowhawk was swarming with Imperial swine, my brothers and sisters of Skyrim marched upon the crumbling fort with the courage of a noble people and the dream of a united Skyrim. My trusted destrier, Frost, was by my side, as he always was, and was in the thick of the bloodshed. Many Imperial pigs lost their lives to his mighty kicks and many more to flaming blade and arcane knowledge, but there would be a sacrifice to pay for this great victory for the people of Skyrim. Frost, retrieved from fools who did not know his worth, passed away, defending me in my weaker points in the midst of the fighting from those who would slay me with their inferior steel.

He will be remembered. Frost, you are a hero. May you find peace.

Taken from my Tales of Skyrim post on Destructoid (http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/Esbern ... 6635.phtml)

Silver-Hand Horrors

If only I had knew...

On the 23rd Sun's Dawn, I entered a cave to the south west of Winterhold. I had heard stories from the locals, of a cult named the "Silver Hands". They were said to brandish silver swords. Silver. The lunacy. However, being Thane, my duty was clear.

I apologize. One should always introduce thyself before speaking. I'm still not sure of etiquette. Skyrim is still a foreign land to me, and while Winterhold is now my home, I long for my homeland. I am Lokir Indoril, of House Indoril. My father was a Nord, and my mother a Dunmer. I don't know what to consider myself. My skin is gray, but my heart calls out to Skyrim.

Anyway, I entered the cave. At first, I was surprised to find anything. The cavern was well lit, and looked like it was lived in. Bedrolls littered the floor. In the distance, I could hear howls. It sounded off a wolf... but it was inside the cave. I drew my sword, and got down on my knees as I heard voices.

"Beasts won't shut up..." A Redguard complained. "How are we supposed to get any sleep?"
"Maybe if you didn't stay up torturing the thing all night and put it down like you were told." A Nord replied. His gruff tone held no pity, for the man, or the poor beast they had locked up. I had heard enough. Running from behind my cover, I took them by surprise. The Redguard barely had drawn his bow when my sword pierced his chest, and he fell to the ground. Leaving my sword in him, I swung my arm, and hit the Nord. I brought my other hand back, and in one motion, a bolt of lightning shot from my hand. The air cracked, and the smell of burning flesh was in the air. The Nord clutched his stomach, and fell to the ground. Removing my sword from the Redguard, I stood over him.
"No," He gurgled, spitting blood. "Please..." My sword pierced his neck in one downward motion, and left the right side of his chest. I spat on him, and kicked his body to the side.

Normally, I'd respect the dead. It's customary in Morrowind. But I also respect animals. As a boy, I had a dog, named Sparky. He was my best friend (I was a very shy child), and I loved him. One day, the Telvanni thought it would be funny to use him for target practice. I held my the charred remains of my dog in my arms as he died. The howls of the wolf almost sounded like him.

Making my way through the cave, I came closer and closer to the sound of the beast. The poor thing was in so much pain, I wanted to move as quickly as possibly, but it was too dangerous to rush. Finally, in a cold, ice filled cavern, I found the beast.

On two legs, a hulking wolf-man stood. I stood in awe, at this horrible, yet beautiful creature. A werewolf, the Nords called in. We had nothing like it in Morrowind - and I had never seen such a majestic creature before. My awe was interrupted, however, by the state of the beast. Caged, and bound, the poor thing was nearly dead.

Running up to the cage, I found the key nearby, and opened it. The beast didn't even move as I did. Who could hurt such a defenceless animal. Such a defenceless person. These things, according to the Nords, were no more evil than I was.

I stood, looking at it, and whimpering, it lifted it's head, and looked back at me. Looking back in it's eyes, I saw a man. Falling to my knees, I opened it's ankle and wrist bindings.
"You're free." I muttered... just in time to be knocked off my feet.

Flying across the room, I hit the icy wall of the cavern. I heard my arm crunching, and I knew it was broken. Jumping out of it's cage, it crossed the room towards me. Looking into it's eyes, I still saw the man. I still saw Sparky. Raising my bloody arm, I threw a fireball towards it, and the beast erupted into flames. I threw my sword, at him, and he fell to the ground, howling.

I crawled towards it, as it burned, making sure it was dead. It wasn't. It was still bleeding - still burning - still dying. And looking into it's eyes, the man was back. Sparky was back. I drew my dagger, and with a tear falling from my eye, I stabbed the beast in it's heart.

I wish I had never entered that cave...

If only I had knew...

Played a very nice rendition of the ol' classic Hide & Seek today, with Uthgardt the Unbroken.

We were standing on a cliff at High Hrothgar.

I'd help her hide with a little Fus Ro Dah off of the cliff,

I would then slowly climb down said cliff, and proceed with the "seeking".

Was quite a fun game.

With my thief character, I had just finished fighting a dragon in the Rift and having just let my follower leave me before hand (never again!) I managed it but used all my potions in the process. As a rule of mine I'm not allowed to use fast travel and decided to head back to Riften. In the next twenty mintues I had:

three hired thugs comes for me which then led me to a rogue breton mage who liked fireballs. Fleeing from the breton I ran into a spider and bear who managed to take care of each other (but i had finish the bear off). I continued and then finally ran into a agressive giant near an orc camp. Never had I run from so many enemies before and was relieved to back into a city.

I'm never going anywhere without a follower again.

So I was clearing a cave of spiders, and I really like the sound spiders make when you one-hit kill them, which I do every time. SO I was shooting them one after another, and I thought to myself "Hey! This is like a video game!" ....-insert facepalm here-
I also encountered Theif, though he died very shortly after our meeting. The guards took a disliking to him. I was in Riften at the time, and felt it necessary to dispose of his body properly, so I dragged him to the canal and dropped him, thinking that he and his treasure could rest peacefully at the bottom of the water. Instead, he landed properly in the boat below, in the viking style. Since this was obviously the way he wanted to go, I left him. May Nocturnal guide you, O nameless Thief, and may your luck in the next life be better.
