Do we know if any PC players were able to play normally?

That is entirely discouraging, since I have the PC version. Are there any specific details about the error? Is Bethesda working on addressing this?

For pretty much everyone, it gets to the main menu then abruptly closes with no error message at all.

Damn you, Bethesda... If anyone hears any news or updates on them addressing this, please post 'em here. In the meantime, good thing I have the PC and console version a-comin'. Mwahaha.

The best scenario is that it's tied to some sort of Steam [&@%!] up with the release times.

Oh god, please no. That is... awful. They will hopefully have fixed it by the time I have the game.

I was going to blame the overlay. But I found a way to start it without it and it still crashed.

But I noticed that there was a bit of smoke rising in the menu rendered in real time. I only see a tad before it crashes. I'm guessing it's a shader issue grossly overlooked by Bethesda related to many many graphics cards.

Or I have a suspicion that it's happening to everyone with an intergrated GPU also present in their motherboard, where the game for some reason reverts to using that, overloads and shuts the game down.

I really don't know. I expect a day two patch now.

EDIT: Okay the game was apparently released too early. People on PC who can get it to run have been saying it's a buggy slimy mess.

So far there are no official announcements, and I'm off to bed now anyway.

Yes that patch installed right after it installed. Didn't seem to fix the main issue.

Mother of god bethesda, I thought you could do better than that.

It seems to be another Sword of the Skies 2, a game that was released too early as a buggy mess.

So either bethesda makes a patch or the "wonderful" modding community will.... What would that say about bethesda?

If Bethesda doesn't make a patch to fix an issue that cuts off a majority of their PC users, for when the construction software isn't even released yet, there'll be hell to pay.

But they most likely will have one. Its only a few hours into the release, so keep an eye out on the official forums for some announcements there.

No. It's a PC issue, probably due to hardware.

No sense in prematurely blaming Bethesda when you don't know if it's a Bethesda or a Steam issue.. I mean, why not wait until you have all of the information before you blow a gasket?

About the fix, I'm kind of a moron when it comes to computers. Could you give me the XP version of those instructions?
