I was wondering if anyone could help with an annoying problem I have been experiencing. I recently reinstalled Oblivion using the original CD. Everything seemed to be working fine until I entered my first fight. It turned out that I could not perform any action with the left mouse button while moving. In this case this means that I can't attack or draw bows while walking/running. I tried inverting the left and right mouse button, but ended up not being able to block while moving. All the other keys on my mouse seem to be working fine, it's only the left mouse button that doesn't work, and only when Im am moving with my character. To make things even weirder, later on I gave it another try, remapping the keys to the default setting to find things working as they should. On the next load, however, the problem had returned. I hope someone can help me here. It is rather annoying to fight using either my keyboard or my thumb :S on the plus side, my thumb now get's a lot of practice, although I am not sure whether that's a good thing ;) Thanks in advance for any help!

Hmm. This might have been resolved by now, but, out of curiosity, you don't have a joystick or controller plugged in to your computer, do you? Sometimes the game competes with one, even if you're not using it.

Of course, I would always ask the usual questions - have you tried another mouse; do you have any mods installed; did you try to uninstall/reinstall; does the same problem happen in new/different character files; etc. I know for me, Oblivion on the PC has what feels like strange controls, but I usually can solve it with remapping like you did. Never quite had a hiccup like you describe here, though. :?:

Unfortunately the problem has not been solved yet. Oddly enough things did again work for a while but returned to not working on the next load. In response to your question, I am not using a controller (nor did so in the past). I am not running any mods (nor have I downloaded any). It does seem to happen on both old and new characters. I did bring in saves from a previous computer though, so this might have caused the problem. Anyway, thanks for helping me in finding a solution. Love the game, but the control thing really bugs me.

Ah, it very well could be in the save file. They can get bloated and suffer corruption sometimes, especially as the hours accumulate. If you started a fresh save with a new character on the fresh install and didn't see it, I would wager that is what it is. There might be a "cleaner" you could use out there somewhere, but I've never used them before so I'm not entirely sure how they would work or if it would help in your specific case.

And not a problem; I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
