I ran across a comment on You Tube that if you kill the unicorn before level 17 you can activate Hircine's shrine and get the Saviour's Hide early in the game. I am skeptical. Can someone confirm or debunk this info for me? Thanks.

Pretty sure they've confused Clavicus Vile's quest with Hircine's. You can get Umbra early and finish that quest before level 20, but you can't get the unicorn horn early and turn it in before getting the quest from Hircine.

Nope, you just end up with a unicorn horn stuck in your inventory.
